A Review of Field Trial Dog Food

Johanna Swith
I have very limited choices for where to shop in my sleepy little hometown of Logan, Ohio. I am also on a budget these days, so every penny I spend must be spent wisely. While shopping at Family Dollar on Wednesday I was fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of a great store coupon and stock up on some needed household items. Among my purchases was Field Trial dog food. I hated to buy such a cheap dog food for my beloved pets, but I simply could not afford to get their preferred food, Beneful.

For $2 I got a 4.5 pound bag of Field Trial. I didn't expect my dogs to actually enjoy this food, and I counted on adding milk to the dry food to entice them into eating it. When I got home with my purchases, my dogs were happy to see I had bought them something. They were sniffing the bag and wagging their tails. I mixed their remaining Beneful into the new food, Field Trial and poured them out a bowl full of the dog food. To my surprise they both dug right in and began eating happily.

Field Trial is nutritionally complete, but it lacks the assorted flavors they regularly enjoy from Beneful. My dogs were not at all disappointed to see this new and very cheap dog food before them. They have been eating it without complaint, and emptying the bowl every time!

I have never seen Field Trial at any other stores, so I believe it is manufactured exclusively for Family Dollar stores. It is affordable, and it must taste pretty good. My dogs can be picky and they like this generic brand of dog food. So far I have not had to add milk to it, which makes it even more affordable than I originally anticipated! There is nothing fancy about this dog food. It is in small chunk form, it is especially appealing to the smaller dog because he likes everything to be smaller including treats and dog food.

If you are a frequent shopper of Family Dollar you have probably seen this dog food in a small green bag. If you have not purchased it yet, I would recommend you give it a shot. Times are tough for everyone and unfortunately not everyone can afford to pay $20 for a bag of dog food these days. I will purchase this Field Trial dog food again and I would recommend it to others. It is affordable and even my picky dogs enjoy it!

I buy a bag of Field Trial Dog Food sometimes when money get tight. I've never had any problems feeding it. My dog likes it and she feels find every other way. I think it just depends on the dog what kind of food they can tolerate. It just so happens my dog is one that doesn't have any problems with it. But when things are good financially, I do by a more expensive dog food just so me and the dog will feel better.
