The first models became available in 1928. Invented by Mr. E.H. Yonkers in Illinois, they were originally sold as "Health-Mor Uprights". A few years later the name was changed to Filter Queen. These machines offered a new technology and were available exclusively through home distributors. This patented technology has been copied by wind tunnel designs that are so prevalent today. However, the Filter Queen vacuum is designed to outlast and out clean any cleaning unit on the market.
One of the key feature of a Filter Queen is the filtration system. The canister uses a cone shaped filter. As air is sucked into the canister, dirt and and other airborne particles are forced toward the outer walls. Then the air passes through the filter which traps the smaller particles. Airflow is maintained even as the canister is filling with dirt and dust. This system maximizes the cleaning ability of the vacuum at all times.
One of the more popular Filter Queen models, the Majestic 360, comes complete with power nozzle for cleaning floors and a variety of other attachments. The vacuum motor is two-speed and the power nozzle has a motor-driven deep- cleaning revolving brush. There a several attachments that make dusting and furniture cleaning a breeze. You can also use an extension to clean curtains and cobweb in ceilings. As you are cleaning surfaces, the unit is also cleaning the air. In fact you can run this machine on low or high speed without using attachments. It then becomes a portable air cleaner.
The entire vacuum is constructed with high quality materials. The filtration design includes two secondary filters in the top of the unit. These filters can be changed once or twice a year. This combination is better than any HEPA system for capturing dust and allergens. To empty the main canister, simply unclamp the top unit and lift the canister from the base. The cone filter inside the cannister can be replaced every 2 or 3 months depending in usage.
Another popular feature of the Filter Queen vacuum, is the ability to reverse the air flow. By removing the cap at the top of the unit, you can then twist-snap the hose into the top. You now have two-speed air blowing capability. The hose can be used to blow dust of off objects. It can even be used to unplug sink or bathtub drains. Simply press the hose tight over the drain opening and turn on the air. The resulting force of air is usually enough to push the clog through the pipes. I have used this method to unclog many drains over the years. It is quick, easy, and leaves no mess like using a snake might cause.
A few of the optional attachments include a window blind brush, mini power nozzle, a hard-surface floor brush, air deodorizer, message brush and vibrator. Also available is a special medi-pure cone filter designed to be more effective in capturing allergens and common bacteria. There are at least another dozen specialty cleaning and air purifying attachments that can be purchased separately.
This is a vacuum that will last a long time if maintained well. As far as the motor goes, I have replaced the contact brushes about every 8-10 years. The newer Filter Queen models have more powerful motors as well as other design improvements. The model "360" costs about $1,600 new with standard attachments. Other new models run over $1,800 to $2,000. However, slightly used or reconditioned older models can be found for $300-700. Most of these come with a 5 year warranty on the motor. I found a variety of price ranges on the Internet. Based on reviews I found, many people have paid less for a new vacuum. If you buy it new, be sure to ask about trading in your old vacuum.
A Filter Queen vacuum is likely to last 30 to 40 years or longer. How many other machines might you end up buying over that time? The price for a new model is admittedly steep. And you also have to consider replacing a few parts along the way. But if you spread the cost over the period of ownership, it is not that expensive. These are top-of-the-line vacuum cleaners. They are still sold door to door by salespersons. I would not hesitate to purchase a used or refurbished unit since they tend to last so long. Like I said before, I purchased mine new in 1980 and would not think twice about buying another Filter Queen.

Post a Commentpersonally After my Husband Was suckered into buying a filter queen Majestic.. at a BIG RIP OFF price, worked ok when it went! - Having said that It works for about 10 minutes and overheats, the vacuum head falls to bit at the smallest knock, not the tough Kid Durable Machine he was supposedly sold, if your Looking at buying one DONT the support network is only interested in selling you filters and getting someone to fix the machine, even when its under a year old is A BIG JOKE - we have tried unsuccessfully to get our Vacuum repaired / fixed /replaced.. To be honest I would rather have my $150 VAMPIRE vacuum from the Warehouse over this overpriced and very BULKY Heavy machine, it did a better job
All you people that are complaining about the company, practice or product are morons! First lets mention the product. The Filterqueen majestic has been around since 1928 and implements a system to maintain cleaning ability and resist pollution. Other manufacturers have been trying to rip of the design since day 1. Dison says is in their commercials for god sake! "Never loses suction" NO VACUUM loses suction, thus the term we use for them VACUUM! Lack of air movement. How is suction supposed to do anything? It is not! Airflow is the cause for contamination removal. Practice: If someone sold you they could cure cancer by touching you, you would not even get close to believing it unless you had seen it for yourself, and would you give that person a chance unless he offered you something for your time and was able to show you? All the best products Worldwide are sold direct, you never see Ferrari advertised in commercials. PRICE: What ever happened to quality over quantity? Wake

The Filter Queen vacuum is a wonderful machine if there was an honest salesman plus someone that was honest and knew how to fix them when they need fixing .this lady got the sales man to fix her machine because he said he could fix it ,he took her money which was quite a bit and he switched her machine with someone elses ,that machine didn't work ,so he robbed her of her money and her own machine. not good for this company, sales man is Kenny Mac Donald of Center Street ,Gannon Road,North Sydney,Nova Scotia,Canada.Dishonest Sales man for Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaners,
I have had my Princess III since '89. Bought it in Concord, CA from the local Vacuum Cleaner Store and loved the owner because of his high level of integrity. I "LOVE" my Princess! I still have her 22 years later she still works like the first day I fired her up. I bought it for my high end clients who have allergies and it has worked wonders. (No client complaints!) It was worth the money and I would pay it again. But I don't remember paying more than $500.00. So for those of you, who may be entertaining the idea of paying more, look around before you shell out your hard earned cash. But, I'll have you know...this machine has paid for itself over and over. I have since retired her because my body tired out before my Princess did! She still runs like new I just can’t say that enough! Don't abuse her and she'll keep on running! I think the love hate relationship comes in because some people pay too much and they fall out of love before the payments
I had my filterQueen since 1977, and its still going strong, I have changed the hose once, and bypass the original switch, service the two filters when needed, and its just as powerfull, as the day we got it. They are a pricey, but worth it if they are still built in the original factory, and not coming from China...
This company feeds of the needy and sick .. They try and make it seem like your place is a health hazard..HMMM is it you have lived in it for how long and your still living so how is this machine gonna help ansma and allergies well folks its not . This ppl are crooks . 1st you get a call saying O we got a free gift for you and a quick presentation to gather some information on are product. HA this quick presentation can last up to about around 2 half hours to even 4. They use these test pads and pull dirt up just to show a effect that ur place is messy but in real perspectives you ppl are fine . They try and close on you at crazy price about 3790 for a defender and a majestic.. Thats pretty expensive dont you think well the thing here ppl is that what you dont know is the actually price u can bargan these ppl down for is 1500 FOR THE MAGESTIC 800 FOR THE DEFENDER AND FOR BOTH 2000 DOLLERS THE LOWEST YOU CAN GO . so there stealing an extra 1790 dollers for there own pocket bunch of croo
Dean Butts if you want you can buy mine off of me just let me know...I will give it to you for what I have have left on it to pay.
Also I belive that anyone one here saying that it is the best thing ever...either is working for the company or is in a higher up position and is making a heafty profit by ripping off hard working folks who just want to vaccume there houses !! DO NOT BUY ONE SAVE YOUR MONEY!! You don't need to belive me, there are enough rip off and scam reports on the internert regarding this filterqueen. cheek it out for yourself.
Take my advice, and do not buy one !! I bought one 2 1/2 years ago, and it doesn't work, I have phoned the company, and they refuse to fix it. I was told that there was a life time guarantee on it...well they lied !! Plus they are not honoring their contract.I was dumb enough to get the air filters too.. they don't work either. The worst problem is if you finance the filter queen, your getting ripped off. !! I do hope everyone reads this DO NOT BUY ONE. Mine spits out more dirt that it sucks up, and the company is refusing to fix it, you know what they want more money !! so much for a guarantee. Also when I phoned 1-604-520-3565 The manger Kelly was extremely rude to me! All I wanted to know was when someone was going to come and pick up my vaccume to get it fixed... Well this is one of there lies because they did do that when I bought the vaccume but they don't do that !! Buyer beware!!
