A Review for Firefox 7.0

Ace Huynh

Firefox 7.0 was officially released, only a short time after its previous version. So what's new and is it really worthwhile to use? Learn about the pros and cons of the web browser in this article.

With the rapid development of Chrome, many people chose the Google's web browser rather than continue to loyal with Firefox. Many criticize that Firefox's interface is confused. In addition, Firefox also has problems with the compatibility of its add-ons. Therefore, result of the updated Firefox version would leave many people in doubt.

However, Firefox 7.0 is actually a version of "value for money". And here are a few reasons why you should try and give Firefox 7.0 an opportunity to prove its strength.

1. Require only a small amount of memory:

Mozilla has said that this version will focus on the ability to save memory and completely cure the "eats RAM" disease of Firefox. And my test shows that Mozilla has done this successfully. With more than 70 tabs open, it used less memory compared to Chrome, its major competitor. Version 7.0 also has an increased startup speed, much faster than its previous version. Not only that, when access to sites with more graphic content, Firefox still does not take up too much memory. If compared to major competitors such as Chrome or Internet Explorer, Firefox shows the superior management capabilities and memory usage, which is used to be problems with users.

2. New Tools:

Many new tools have been integrated into Firefox 7, this means creating more favorable conditions for website designers to build sites quickly and improving efficiency for users. The web browser has been upgraded to the new and more complete version which allows the processor to speed up web pages built with HTML5 and the game play on the browser.

Firefox also supports enable developers to build web pages with different standards to match the connection speed of the user. This helps the website to be easily optimized to suit the conditions of the viewers and to display the pages at the fastest speed.

3. Tools to collect user's feedback:

Intended to help building up the new and better version in the future, a new feature called Telemetry was integrated into Mozilla Firefox to anonymously collect feedbacks from users. However, this does not violate the privacy of users nor affect the speed of the system. This feature also allows users to proactively respond to the performance of Mozilla's Firefox, if you feel not satisfied. Hopefully, with the participation of user will help the new version of Firefox to become more complete and powerful.

4. Compatibility with add-on

With the increasing growth of the new version, Mozilla has received a very little positive feedback from users. The reason is Firefox version is not compatible with most of the common add- on. However, since the release of Firefox 7, 99% of the add-on are now compatible and works hard on the new version. Mozilla also confirmed that when the official Firefox 8 debuted, the add-on incompatibility will only be a matter of the past.

5. Compatible with many different platforms

With support for many different platforms, including PC, smartphone ..., users can use Firefox to access data anywhere. In addition, many features of Firefox on Android is designed specifically to not only to boost the speed the browser on smart phone, but also to equip with additional features for mobile such as the ability to copy and paste into the browser the website content sent via SMS.

If those reasons were enough to pursue you to use Firefox, then you can download the official Firefox version 7 for Windows here or a version for Android here.
