Senseless violence has always been a controversy with video games. From Mortal Combat to Grand Theft auto there are always those games that push random and needless violence too far. Ninety-Nine Nights or N3 does just that. N3 is an amazing looking game for the Xbox 360. It may not be as obviously gory or vulgar as some other M rated games on the market however this game received the M rating on violence alone, now that makes a statement so dont let the children play. That being said this game is amazing in ever aspect of the word, I think Microsoft came up with a winner.

In the game you play as one of several warriors, each with unique powers and abilities and his or her own story. Once you have selected a character combat starts right away. You and your massive weapon, wither it be an axe sword or spear maul through hoards of enemies like there's no tomorrow. As you hack up your opponents you receive small red orbs that fill a gauge. Once this gauge reaches its limit you're able to pull off your most powerful attack... and it's really fun to watch.

The Graphics in this game seem to take full advantage of the 360's capability. From facial expressions, to the way the trees move it looks amazing. Microsoft really outdid themselves with the lighting effects as well, finding the right way to manipulate even the slightest bit of Shadow. All in all it's a visual masterpiece.

The controls are to say the least, simple. Keep pressing the attack button, once in a while hit the special button, and then lather rinse repeat. The same goes for the action in the game. Just find the group of bad guys, run at them, hack em' up, then move on. However there is a drawback to the simplicity of this game. The story is shallow, and after about an hour or two you may become board, but it also depends on what mood you're in.

If you want an in depth story, superior graphics, hours of playtime, and no life... play Final Fantasy. But if you just want a quick fix for your medieval combat needs, and you're angry from the drive home from work, N3 will defiantly suffice. It's a good buy for around thirty bucks or so, but I don't suggest buying it new. I got my copy pre-played for about twenty five dollars and don't really think I'd pay any more then that.

N3 is fun, action packed, but shallow and short. The array of characters offers a unique play style and the graphics astound me. I could watch the opening scene over and over again and not get tired of it. My suggestion to you is this, get in your car, go to your local gaming store and pick up a copy of the game. Then come home cut the lights out, the sound on your HD television up and let the mashing begin!
