A Review of the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill Located in Indianapolis, IN

A Good Meal at a Reasonable Price

On Mother's Day, my Mom and I went to the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill. The Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill is located at 10220 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN. A buffet style restaurant, the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill, has several steam tables filled with a variety of food that changes on a daily basis. It also has a hand-carved meat station that serves ham, turkey and roast beef; a cooked when you order grill that has a limited selection of food (this also changes on a daily basis); plus a salad bar and a desert bar. Drinks are sold separately. The buffet plus drink cost $12.50, which included tax.

We arrived at the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill at about 1:00 pm. We could barely get in the door due to the crowd. While the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill has two cashier lines, it was very difficult to determine where either one of them ended. The lines melted into a crowd of people.

We waited in line for at least 15 minutes. There is no seating in the waiting area and this made it very difficult for my mother who uses a cane to stand. Along the approach to the cashier, we received our drinks. We finally we escorted to our table. The table for two was located along a wall. The aisle between tables was barely big enough for one person to pass through. The host seated us and then the server approached with a basket of warm, buttered rolls and several plates.

The salad bar offers a choice of a mixed green salad or Cobb salad greens and all the fixings (tomatoes, eggs, ham, turkey, cucumber, croutons, carrots, tomatoes, olives and dressing). There also is a selection of fruit, cottage cheese, Cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, seafood salad, carrot salad and Jell-O salad. I chose the seafood salad, some cantaloupe, strawberries and grapes. At the hand-carved meat station, I selected ham and turkey. Today, on the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill's steam tables, they offered fish, fried chicken, both mashed potatoes and au gratin potatoes, green beans and several other dishes that I cannot recall.

The steam tables were kept well stocked. The food was not as warm as I would have liked but it was fresh (it had not been sitting on the table long) and tasted good. The hand-carved meat was tender and juicy.

After, I had finished my meal; it was time to visit the dessert bar. Here too, the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill had a wide variety of desserts. There were several different kinds of pies, cookies and cakes as well as a soft-served ice cream machine and several toppings so that you could build your own sundae. I chose the banana pudding, a brownie and a slice of cheesecake. All my desserts were very tasty.

My server was a little slow when it came to removing used plates and refilling our drinks (this was probably due to the large crowd) but overall my experience at the Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill in Indianapolis, Indiana was good. I would recommend it to my friends. The Golden Corral Restaurant & Grill Restaurant and Grill offers a good meal at a reasonable price.
