Recently, while shopping for easy to prepare frozen veggie side dishes, I came across a bag of Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers Asian Style Veggie Medley in the frozen vegetable section of my local grocery store. This side dish intrigued me. I just had to buy it, try it out and write a product review all about it. Here is what I discovered!
The price is right on this one, it costs under three dollars and each bag has three servings in it. Not too bad. I like many Green Giant brand vegetables. This dish has broccoli, water chestnuts, red peppers, soy sauce and an orange sesame sauce. I love water chestnuts. What a creative and different veggie combo. This side dish is low in fat, low cal, cholesterol free and vitamin C packed. I loved all of those facts. I could not wait to taste this veggie medley!
Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers Asian Style Veggie Medley is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I prepared it. I placed the bag on a microwave safe plate and microwaved on high for five and one half minutes. I then let the bag cool for one minute before opening and serving. I emptied the veggies into a large bowl and stirred well. They looked wonderful and smelled great. When I tasted this dish, I liked it. It is unique because of the orange sesame sauce. The sauce is rich and flavorful. If you like orange chicken, you will most likely enjoy these veggies. I served them with an orange chicken dish and they went perfectly with it. This veggie medley has an oriental style appeal. The veggies were tender, crunchy and fresh tasting.
I rate this veggie medley three and one half stars out of five stars. It is a great partner with any oriental type food, I discovered. It is sassy and bold. You can serve it over rice and add beef, shrimp or chicken, also. One serving has 50 calories. 15 of those calories come from fat. One serving has 1.5 grams of total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 mg's of cholesterol, 135 mg's of sodium, 190 mg's of potassium, only 8 grams of total carbs, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 4 grams of sugars and 2 grams of protein. One serving provided me with fifty percent of my daily vitamin C requirement. Awesome! This product does contain milk, wheat, soy and sesame.
I enjoyed trying Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers Asian Style Veggie Medley and writing this product review about it. It is a fun and tasty veggie side dish with zest. It steams quickly in my microwave and saves me time. It is also affordable. For those who like orange sauce type dishes, this one is good to try.
