There is nothing special about the decor in Happy Tummy. If you plan on eating at Happy Tummy, keep in mind that there is not a lot of seating. There is somewhere around 12 booths take or give a few. It is also important to note that the area where Happy Tummy is located is a little sketch. It is not an area where I would like to be at night.
Our first visit to Happy Tummy was on 2 February 2011. It was for takeout. My wife and I both ordered General Tso's Chicken from the Combination Platter portion of the menu. It is served with fried rice and an egg roll and items from the combination platter portion of the menu are available all day. We both agreed that the General Tso's was amazing. The rice was top notch and the egg roll was very good. As I have already mentioned, this was takeout and the total cost of the meal was $15.27.
On our second visit to Happy Tummy we dined in. This visit was 7 February 2011. We both had the lunch buffet. The lunch buffet only had 6-7 different items that you could choose from. There were egg rolls, fried rice, and a few variety of meats among other items. The total cost of this meal was $15.25. This included two lunch buffets ($5.99 per person) plus two drinks.
Takeout is definitely better than buffet at Happy Tummy. The buffet is only average if not a little below average. If you are dying to have Chinese buffet than it will do but I would definitely recommend the takeout over the buffet at Happy Tummy. On both occasions the service we received was excellent. The lady who waited on us was very upbeat and cheerful. If you live in downtown Memphis, Happy Tummy is a place you need to try at least once.
Also note that there are locations at 3500 Park Avenue and 3283 Austin Peay Highway.
