Windows 7 is just an operating system for smart phones so a Windows phone 7 review could either review one phone or just the windows 7 OS on the phone. For this article we will be looking at the HTC HD7 with Windows 7. The HTC HD7 will be reviewed but the emphasis in this Windows phone 7 will be on the OS.
A quick review of the HTC HD7 is that is it a pretty solid phone as you would expect from HTC. The camera has some color problems which will hopefully be fixed otherwise the 5MP camera it has would be good enough to be your only camera which would help make the $450 or so price tag not so bad. The phone has GPS, and wi-fi which work well. The phone is well built, sleek, and stylish. Besides the color problem which should be able to be fixed like it was on other HTC phones there is no problem with the HTC HD7.
The real question though is how well does the Windows 7 OS work. Now that Windows has a smart phone OS expect the two big phone OS to be Apple or Windows. Windows 7 allows the phone to work much smoother. Your apps will work much faster with Windows 7. The interface is much easier to use. Personally I don't like Apple I had some recent defective Apple products like a bad iPhone and Macbook and I prefer staying with Microsoft. The problem was Apple was the only one in the smart phone business until now. Personal preference aside though in terms speed, freeing up the phones processor, and ease Windows 7 wins hands down.
That is not to say that Windows 7 is perfect it has some problems. Hopefully these problems will be addressed soon. There is no multi-tasking for third party apps which hopefully will be fixed. No copy and paste one of the things I love over using a Mac because I know the copy paste on Windows not Mac but they don't even have it on the phone and I use it all the time. No HTML 5 support which is not a big deal for most and should be fixable. You cant drop documents from Zune software to sync with office mobile which is kind of a third party problem which could get fixed with a multi-task fix.
Sure there are some minor problems but for the most part Windows 7 is a big improvement that we should have had a long time ago. As this review of windows phone 7 OS has shown the Windows 7 OS is a overall better experience. You will have an easier time with your phone and it will work much faster you have to really try the phone out to see how much better it is.
