The Basics:
Design and Display:
The new iPhone does not feature any radical design changes. The only visible change to the unique design of the phone is on the back side. The aluminum cover has been replaced by smudge free plastic. This has two advantages: no more fingerprints on the phone and the iPhone can now have colors. Yes, the iPhone now comes with a pearly white color too in addition to the well known black. Navigation is pretty much the same as the older version except it is now a lot smoother owing to the new version of the OS. The OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics seem a lot sharper due to the new graphics chip dubbed the PowerVR SGX. The virtual full QWERTY keypad is an efficient mode of input.
Though there are no visible changes to the 3.5 inch widescreen touch display, a very important enhancement has been brought about. The display now comes treated with an oleophobic coating. What does that mean? Well, that means no more smudge marks on the screen. Now you can chomp on that burger while still texting your friends.
Multimedia:
Apple has blessed the phone with a competitive 3.0 MP camera, much to the relief of the iPhone fans. And the camera now comes with autofocus too. The phone still relies on its onscreen trigger for focusing but then who's complaining? A good flash though is sorely missed. But in good light the camera is capable of good quality images and videos.
The iPhone has always been a leader in the music and movies segment of the phone. In face it was Apple who started it all, wasn't it? The music player is as fantastic as ever with support for almost all kinds of music. Standard features like synchronization with the computer and playlists are still very much a part of the package.
The wide screen with enhanced graphics is a makes watching movies on the phone a greatly enjoyable experience.
Enjoy your multimedia experience either on the built in speakers or plug in your favorite headphone into the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Organizer and email:
The phone comes with an organizer with a local calendar to plan your days well in advance. In the email department, the phone is as efficient as ever with support for push email and integration with email clients. Optional subscription to mobileMe ensures you are always connected to your email.
