A Review of Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, Texas

A Great Salon in the Heart of Montrose

Bobbi Leder
Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX is a "Best of Citysearch Winner for Best Hair Salon" so when I was looking for a new hair salon, I didn't hesitate to make an appointment at Marbella. Something else that made me want to try Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX is the fact they sell MOROCCANOIL® - which is rapidly becoming a Hollywood favorite product. Marbella Spa and Salon is located in the heart of Montrose which means it's convenient to get to and very close to restaurants if you're looking to eat before or after your hair appointment.

The salon is located on the second floor and if you arrive for an appointment after 5 p.m., free valet parking is offered. Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX opened back in 2002 by Eduardo Granados and his wife Rosa Alanis. They set out to have a salon that was upscale yet approachable and that's exactly what they did.

It's not a stuffy salon where conversations are kept to a minimum and the staff competes with one another; instead, this is a friendly Houston, TX salon where the staff works together and lively conversation is constantly taking place. All of the staff members know the clients regardless of whose client they are, and they all make you feel comfortable.

Drinks are offered as soon as you walk in and there is a big bowl of candy (e.g. Dum Dum lollipops) which is my favorite part. I had a consultation before I made an appointment and liked how I was not pressured to cut my long hair - which is something most hair stylists want to do to give it volume. No, instead the staff at Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX agreed with my game plan to get a perm to help me through Houston's hot and humid summer.

Vanessa Williams - my hair dresser, not the actress - is fun, friendly, intelligent, knowledgeable and approachable. She is a fabulous wordsmith so if you're trying to explain something she'll come up with the word you've been looking for in no time. She knows a lot about hair (and everything else which is impressive), and is willing to learn anything she doesn't already know.

Vanessa gave me a nice haircut, demi-glazed my hair (to get rid of the orange ends from the Houston, TX sun) and perm; and she sat with me (and talked) the entire time instead of leaving me to read boring magazines by myself. My hair was a bit stubborn so my perm didn't' take quite as well as I had hoped for but that's OK because I'll be going back for a re-perm in a month.

In the meantime, Vanessa wants to make sure my hair is healthy so she gave me a deep conditioning treatment and suggested I use the MOROCCANOIL® restorative hair mask, shampoo, and original MOROCCANOIL® to make sure my hair is in tip-top shape for the re-perm. I have no doubt I'll wind up with exactly what I was hoping to achieve when I get my re-perm because Vanessa is a pro.

One of the things I like best is that Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX will phone customers to give them a courtesy appointment reminder which is something I love since I tend to forget easily. They don't just cut and color hair; they also offer other services like hair extensions, skin treatments, make-up application, and hair removal.

I highly recommend Marbella Spa and Salon in Houston, TX to anyone looking for a relaxed, casual atmosphere while receiving hair services by knowledgeable staff. Marbella Spa and Salon is located at 415 Westheimer #200, Houston, TX, 77006. Their phone number is (713) 523-6905 and their web site is www.marbellasalon.com.
