A Review of Marie Callender Creamy Chicken & Portobello Risotto Dinner
320 Calories and Steams in Your Microwave
I am a big fan of many microwave steamable meals. While grocery shopping, I recently came across a Marie Callender Creamy Chicken & Portobello Risotto Dinner and it looked quite intriguing. The box advertised fresh steamed flavor and I was all for that. I purchased this meal and could not wait to try it and write a product review all about my findings!
This dinner is affordable. I paid a bit over three dollars for it. This dish fascinated me because it had an amazing array of ingredients in it. Mushrooms, risotto, white meat chicken, Parmesan cheese, cream, Chardonnay wine sauce, so many creative items. In basic terms, that means fancy chicken, mushrooms, rice, wine sauce and more. This dinner has no preservatives in it and I loved that fact! I just knew I would like it. I could not wait to find out how much!
This is a microwave friendly frozen meal for one. So easy to prepare. I only had to place it in my microwave, cook on high for four and a half minutes, uncover, pour the contents of the steamer basket into the sauce bowl, stir well and serve. No mess and no fuss. When I tasted this dinner, I loved it. The risotto is perfect, the sauce is divine, the chicken was tender and the mushrooms, heavenly. This meal is indeed gourmet and for a frozen dinner, it captured my food loving heart. I rate this Marie Callender Creamy Chicken & Portobello Risotto Dinner four stars out of five stars. It is a winner, in my book. After writing food product reviews for over five years and serving on many consumer survey panels, I know a good thing when I taste one. This dinner is worth the money, hearty and delicious.
I was impressed with the calorie count. This meal has 320 calories in it. Not bad. 90 of those calories come from fat. It has 10 grams of total fat, 4.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 45 mg's of cholesterol, 910 mg's of sodium, 360 mg's of potassium, 39 grams of total carbs, 1 gram of sugars, 2 grams of dietary fiber and 19 grams of protein. Wow! This one is protein packed. This dish is also rich in vitamins and minerals. I will buy this dinner again, that is for sure.
I love many of the Marie Callender's brand frozen meals and I have to say that this is one of my new favorites. Good enough to write a complimentary food product review about. This dinner is a treat and it also provides me with nice amounts of my daily grains, meat and veggie needs. I am all for that! Few steamed microwave meals taste this good. A must try for chicken and rice fans.
