A Review of Miniature Golf Courses in Waukesha County, Wisconsin

James Gapinski
Residents in Waukesha County Wisconsin have several fun mini golf courses to choose from. Locating the best deal without sacrificing quality takes some tact and a good survey of the competition.

Prarieville Park Adventure Golf: 2507 Plaza Court, Waukesha, WI. Prarieville Park Adventure golf is a great location for adults and older kids. It doesn't have cartoonish themed golf holes like other miniature golf courses in the area, but it does have go-karts and a batting cage for the adventurous tikes in your crew. There is also an ice cream shop on site and a nice gift shop. The course itself is geared toward adults with its several rocky obstacles, water traps, ramps, and tunnels; it's definitely an advanced golfer's playpen. Due to the course's higher difficulty level, inexperienced kid golfers may walk away frustrated. But, with the other amenities, there is a little something for everybody at Prarieville Park Adventure Golf, and it's a good choice for most groups. Unfortunately, the price is a bit steeper than some of the alternatives. Overall, I'd give the course the following ratings on a 10 point scale: course: 9, value: 4, extra features: 10.

Tee Aire Golf Practice Range: 21700 Gumina Road, Brookfield, WI. Tee Aire Golf Practice Range has, as the name suggests, a driving range along with the 18 hole miniature golf course. The price is very reasonable for both kids and adults. The course is moderately difficult, great for kids or fun-loving adults. Tee Aire Golf Practice Range also offers lessons for those who are not experienced golfers, making it a good choice for people of all skill levels. For these reasons, Tee Aire gets some good ratings: course: 7, value: 9, extra features: 8.

Storms Golf: 3818 North Silver Lake Road, Oconomowoc, WI. Storms Golf has many options, though not all of them are amazingly produced. The driving range offers a great place for adults to tee off from; a variety of in-house clubs and cheap ball bucket prices make it affordable and easy. The mini golf courses are less impressive; they are not well maintained, the dried up water traps, peeling paint on the cartoon cutouts, and worn out Astroturf don't exactly inspire wonder and excitement among golfers. However, despite the rundown appearance of certain course features, the holes can be challenging and many kids are able to look past the flaws, just happy to be out mini golfing. Overall, Storms Golf isn't the best choice, but it is conveniently located for Oconomowoc residents, and it is affordably priced. The bottom line is still looking okay for Storms Golf, with average ratings: course: 5, value: 7, extra features: 7.
