A Review of The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom - Now Playing on Your PC

Marilyn Quinn
Originally released as an Xbox 360 game, The Misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom is now available as a downloadable game for your PC.

You still have the great silent movie style graphics and characters; or character, as you are playing as P. B. Winterbottom with the aid of clones of yourself. The pie thief is back and available as a PC download. You still get to chase the cosmic pie and solve puzzles to collect the pies in each level. You will be taxing your brain to figure out the best way to reach the pastries.

We found this game to be fun, entertaining and pleasantly difficult at times. You are able to make clones of yourself to help you collect the pies. You will be recording yourself and then using those recordings to help you reach new heights. You can hit your clones, they can hit you, you can use them to pull levels and jump on see-saws to hurl you high in the air; and you will all get the pies and advance through the puzzles.

The differences in the PC game and the Xbox 360 game is that the PC version is available as an exclusive download at Steam. There are five additional bonus levels and there are Steam achievements, leader boards and more. The game also takes advantage of the Steam Cloud feature that allows you to play from any computer.

The PC version of this game is available for $4.99 from Steam. Steam is a website gaming community that allows you to play your games from any PC. Your games are linked to your account, not to any one computer. You can browse multiplayer game servers, chat with friends while gaming and you get automatic game updates.

System requirements for Steam include Windows XP, Vista or 7; 56 MB RAM, 1 GB HD space and an internet connection.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is the first, and so far, the only game that has been released by The Odd Gentlemen; a small video game studio that was founded by two graduates of the University of Southern California, Matt Korba and Paul Bellezza. This game was a multi-award winning student game. Their pursuit of experimental games has scored big with me on Winterbottom; and I personally can't wait to see what they come up with next.
