A Review of the Movie Kick Ass

Allie Bojko
Don't make no mistake about this movie Kick Ass because anything you may have heard doesn't in anyway apply to what the director Mathew Vaughn has in store for you. Every character in this movie were determined to make this comic story possible by redefining the genre. Many movies do in fact entertain you, but this one really blows your mind! There are tons of movies that have done the same and the Kick Ass movie isn't going to shy way from that either. The story line is top notch, instead of the usual super hero movies that show the pros and cons of being such this when makes the other films appear very minuscule, by actually putting that to action than through words. I was quite impressed by the director Matthew Vaughn because he did what no other superhero movies have ever done, he made it incredibly simple for the viewers to love and know the characters of the movie without having to do so in so many scenes. Matthew portrays this by showing the characters in every scene in which the more they try or do something the easier it is for you to love or know them. The narrative was really unique and how were on this long awaited journey for Kick Ass's Dave all the way until the end of the movie.

What I really loved about the movie Kick Ass is how they kept everything so simple and how they didn't try to do anything over the top in order to impress us. He made all of his characters do some pretty interesting things and not how Michael Bay does things in which he has so many unusual things happening to all of his characters. I simply loved how they left the cool factor in their superhero as opposed to every other movie and just made Dave, Dave with his boring or geeky lifestyle which was perfectly done. He's just an average every day guy that wanted to help contribute to his community in a giving away and took it into his own hands and not this unusual guy from another existence or has the super powers of various other characters, or have the drive and/or ambition. All Dave really wants to do is get all the fame and glory that all superhero's crave but in a way only to help contribute to community by helping those having a difficult time on the streets sort of like what Peter Parker of the Spiderman series does. His real initiative is to get the girl he always wanted and to be this really cool guy that everyone simply likes. The guy that plays an evil mafia infested drug dealing kingpin is unbelievably perfect for his role as the bad guy. This movie visually takes into account many of the things that we simply loved from all of the other previous movies that just didn't zing and made every one of them nearly flawless.

This movie is absolutely wonderful, usually in all of James Cameron's previous movie's acting is always second but in this movie not so much. Christopher Mintz Plasse does a wonderful job as the Red Mist superhero and how he had this depiction on what his character might be like. He's also the son of the bad guy of this movie which makes it all that much interesting. He has finally branched out from the Superbad movie as the beloved McLovin. He has a lot more depth to his character in this movie as opposed to all of the other movies he's done and I'm quite impressed by his performance in this movie as well.

Mark Strong plays D'Amico the Mafia drug dealing kingpin and the villain of the movie. This is as strong a performance by him that I've ever seen before and was incredibly shocked as to how great of an actor he is as well as to how great he plays his villain roles. Nicolas Cage as always plays the larger than life characters and does an excellent job at it. He hasn't lost it and probably never will it was very entertaining to watch him in this movie, with a little emotion of sadness. Chloe Moretz does an unbelievable job in this movie and also should be remembered from this movie since this is her first major role. Every scene that this little girl's in, she absolutely steals the scene it's very entertaining to watch this girl in action, she might be a little overshadowed simply because the whole cast. Aaron Johnson once again does an unbelievable job playing a geek which isn't as easy as it may seem because not many can make it believable but he does. He makes his role loveable in the sense that he helps redefines it and leads this film as if he made the script, the cast was great as well in which the smallest of roles were in no way considered that small a role and you could see that in the acting.

I loved how when I watched the movie Kick Ass I felt like I was on one big roller coaster ride, it's not only surprising, but it makes you feel as if your in on the action. It doesn't do it through any tricks, it goes beyond that and does it by getting you shell shocked by all of the other films you already enjoy. This isn't just a movie, it shows you that movie's like these can be done when you have a decent game plan and you think it through clearly. And this is why I loved this movie so much because it does what no other super hero movie has ever done which is why I give it a two thumbs up film. Don't avoid this movie because some movie critic tells you so, just go to your local movie theatre and watch it you won't be disappointed I know I wasn't. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
