When I moved to a state where there were National City branches, I decided I would give them a try as my bank. I haven't been let down since. The customer service is great, the accounts are wonderful, and earning Points in their rewards program is the icing on the cake.
I signed up for a Free Checking account three years ago. Since then, I have transitioned into one of the Free Checking Plus accounts, where if you have direct deposit, an ACH that comes out of your account, or you use online bill pay, you get a package of great banking goodies. I get free checks, free ATM cash withdrawals at Non-National City ATMs, free online banking/bill pay, free Visa check card, and much more! I don't have enough good things to say about this type of account.
I also have received a free Personal Savings account with no minimum balance and no monthly maintenance fees. All I have to do is maintain my normal checking account with them and everything is good. It's convenient, and I can link that savings account for overdraft protection if I do not qualify for their Cash Reserve Line of Credit.
The National City Points program has been wonderful for me. I have received many rewards just for opening my account, opening another account, applying for a loan, and just every day use of my Visa check card. I earn two points for dollar when I use my check card as a credit card and then earn extra bonus points each month for any other transactions I do. I have redeemed my points for many great gift cards, and even once I redeemed my points for $40 cash. It is great because I don't pay for the points program, and I am eligible just for having my checking account with National City.
I have been with National City for three years now, and use them as my primary bank. I have been very satisfied with the service I have received from them, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who lives in an area where they have a presence. They are always acquiring other banks, and expanding their network. Give them a try if you are looking for a new bank; you'll be glad you did!

Mprivy- you sure can! It will be very easy to do so. Just go in to your local branch in FL and open your account. When you arrive in Louisville, continue banking as usual. Good luck!
we live in Florida, can we open a checking & saving account as we are about to move to Louisville.
