A Review on Nokia 7390: Pros and Cons

A Hot Mobile Device by Nokia

MCWL
I have always been a fan for Nokia phones. In the past, Nokia was a hot little device that everyone wants to own one. One thing for sure, I noticed Nokia's design tends to sway to a more artistic looking phone but it just didn't suit my taste - probably because it's becoming a gigantic phone with didn't fit comfortably in my pockets.

The Nokia 7390 came out in the third quarter of 2006. I still consider it a pretty new model. What amazes me was the color intensity that the phone could display - it can display over 16 million colors through the 240x320 pixels TFT screen! However, the outer screen is a 256K color screen with is impressive as well.

Another thing I liked about the Nokia 7390 is of course the stereo speakers with 3D sound. I love Sony Ericsson's sound system but the Nokia 7390 can even match Sony Ericsson's sound system. It's also pretty loud which serves well in noisy areas.

However, what I didn't like was the phone came with a small amount of memory - 21MB internal memory. You can add a microSD in order to compensate the meager memory size.

The phone also provides a wide range of data transfer capability - GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Infrared and USB. What lacked was Wireless Internet or WiFi. Although a normal person might not even have the chance to try out all of the types of data connections, nevertheless the Infrared port, Bluetooth and USB connection is suffice.

Although the Nokia 7390 comes with a 3 mega pixels camera, somehow I find Nokia's imaging technology has not improved dramatically. The quality of the pictures taken somehow appear rather grainy to my standards.

As my personal recommendation, the Nokia 7390 is light and small which fits comfortably into my pockets. Unlike recent released Nokia phones which are big and bulky, the clamshell 7390 is an ideal phone. However, I received complaints from a couple of my friends about their 7390.

The light sensor situated in a small hole in the front camera is responsible in adjusting the backlight. The light sensor sometimes does not work properly. The solution - blast the light sensor with any source of light and the display will light up crisp and clear.

Also please take note that this phone might not work on certain telecommunications network. Check your local phone store or Telco whether they support the phone's model.

Nevertheless, the Nokia 7390 is still a beautiful phone. I would definitely recommend prospective buyers to buy one.

Cheers!
