A Review of Noxzema Deep Lathering Cleanser

Get that Noxzema Clean Feeling from a Lathering Wash

Becky Smith
Originally invented by an Ocean City, MD doctor named Francis Townsend, Noxzema made its way from being a simple sunburn remedy to a product for many purposes that can be found in medicine cabinets everywhere.

Although he said for many years that it wasn't true, Dr. George Bunting was given the formula by Dr. Townsend who wanted it to be helpful for people outside the small Maryland resort town. In 1914, Bunting began marketing the product as "Dr. Bunting's Sunburn Remedy" and packaging it in a blue jar. Supposedly the name Noxzema was unwittingly supplied by a satisfied customer who claimed, "You knocked my eczema!"

Through radio and print advertising Noxzema gained great popularity in the 1940's and branched out into other personal care products such as shaving cream and cold cream during the 1950's.

For years households have been purchasing the familiar blue jar to be used as a makeup remover, facial cleanser, and sunburn remedy.

Noxzema has updated its look and its product in recent years. The blue jar has gotten a packaging facelift to bring it into the 21st century and a number of new products have been added to the original line, including Deep Cleansing Cloths, Wet Cleansing Cloths, 60 Second Cleansing Whip, and Daily Exfoliating Cleanser.

I have been a fan of Noxzema ever since I started using it at my grandmother's house as a child. My skin always felt so clean after using it.

Recently I purchased the Deep Lathering Cleanser from the original product line. I like a facial cleanser that lathers up, so I was hoping to get the same Noxzema clean feeling from a cleanser that lathered up. I was not disappointed.

The Deep Lathering Cleanser comes in a tube, so there is no difficulty in getting the product out, especially if you are in the shower with wet hands. It takes only a small amount and it lathers up exceptionally well. Once you get it on your face you can immediately feel the camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus working on your skin and you know you are getting that deep down Noxzema clean. When you rinse the cleanser off your face feels tingly clean.

For years I have been buying expensive facial washes trying to find just the right one and none of them have given me the clear skin I have had since starting to use the Noxzema Deep Lathering Cleanser. I have had fewer blemishes and I have had several people tell me that my skin looked the best they have ever seen.

The cleanser cost around $4.00 for a 7 oz. tube, and as I said, a little bit goes a long way, so the price is very reasonable. This is a product I will continue to use and recommend to others.
