It is a great new to that the Hemp seed contains 37% protein, 9% useful fats, chlorophyll, iron and magnesium. Besides, 43% of fiber makes it incredibly smart diet supplement. No amount of food like egg, fish and meat can match the level of proteins and nutrients as that of Hemp.
This is a purely veggie powder and hence can be had by vegetarians. As far as I know the only other food that can come close to Hemp seed in terms of nutrients is Soya. But the Soya is treated with the chemical hexane while processing and this is not good for health in long run. The Nutiva Hemp stands out from the overcrowded protein powders as it is completely organic and does not contain hexane. Moreover since it is cultivated under special conditions under organic farming, it does not contain any trace of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
The scope of health benefits derived from the regular consumption of Hemp is unbelievable. Besides facilitating in building body, this helps in improving the stamina and endurance. I am taking about 5 gm of this extraordinary powder everyday and trust me this has shown positive results.
Being in early forty and mother of two teenage daughters I found it difficult to cope up with the emotional stress thrown by my age. It has greatly helped in soothing the menopause symptoms and menstrual crams. I am lot better now and can control the mood swings as the Hemp has remarkable potential to stabilize the hormonal imbalance.
The only issue with this powder is that the earthy taste may not be accepted by those who are used to tasty powders. Remember that the powders get the taste by added sugar and fat powder. The Nutiva is least processed as is pure without any harmful taste enhancers and hence it has somewhat weird taste.
But once you get to know the goodness derived from the powder, I am sure you will be ready to compromise with the taste. To make it taste sweet you can add artificial sweetener like stevia occasionally. This can be readily digested and even patients who have undergone operation can also have this.
Strangely this does not have a smooth uniform texture and it is more or less grainy. To make it even run it in a blender with milk. To make it appealing, try to toss it with fresh fruits, nuts and some cream. You can also add this along with the baking dough. For those who want to have Hemp powder fortified with flax, I would suggest you to go for Ruth product.
