The Suwanee location of the Olde Towne Tavern is the newest in a chain that are located around the metro Atlanta area. The name suggests something rather old fashioned and British but it is actually pretty far removed from that. It's all mod cons with flat screen plasma TV's dotted around playing every sporting event you could imagine. They have also chosen a prime location within Suwanee as it sits on the edge of the Suwanee Town Centre Park, a great meeting spot and hang out place for the locals.
Ambience : This really is a happening spot. I've been a number of times and on each occasion it has been very busy but without having the feeling of being overcrowded. They have a great feature on the bar side as they have massive windows behind the bar which slide open so that the people on the patio can also sit bar side. It's a tough spot to get a seat at as everyone makes a beeline for that very spot.
Food & Drink : Olde Towne carries a dozen beers on tap from local favorites (Sweetwater), to domestic beer (Budweiser), and a couple of different imports (Guinness among them) and has many more in bottle form. They also have a very decent wine and cocktails (margaritas, martinis etc.) to choose from and the cocktails especially seem to be in very high demand.
The food is mostly traditional pub fare and all very reasonably priced at that. I started out with a cup of chili which was very nice, not too spicy and covered with cheese and onions. A great value at only $3.95. I followed that with the Tavern Dip which is a basic beef sandwich with au jus for dipping. The beef was very tender and covered in melted Swiss cheese. I opted to have my sandwich blackened which consisted of sprinkling it with cracked peppercorn. I loved that but a quick word of warning, it does make the sandwich very spicy hot and may be a bit much for some palettes.
The beef dip was served with a nice portion of steak cut fries and cost $8.99. My friend opted for one of their burgers which he claims are the best in town and are all priced in the $7.50 - $8.99 range. We also split a small pizza between us. No frozen stuff here, they are all hand tossed and individually prepared to your specifications and are really tasty and again nicely priced at $4.99 for an 8 inch or $8.99 for a 14 inch. I can't comment on dessert as we were too stuffed to try anything but there is a really good selection to choose from.
Service : The service here is what sets this place apart from other similar bar/restaurants. They have 4 girls working behind the bar and they are not just pretty faces as is the case with a lot of places. They work very hard and you are never without a drink. The restaurant side is excellent as well as you are seated and served very quickly and everything was exactly as ordered.
The Olde Towne Tavern & Grille is a great spot to dine or just go for a couple of drinks but if you are going to go eat on the restaurant side I'd recommend calling ahead and reserving a spot as it's always very busy and around dinner time you could be in for a long wait for table.

Post a CommentJust had dinner at Olde Towne Tavern Bar & Grille tonight with my wife and we had an excellent experience! The place was very crowded, but we didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to get a booth, our server was very friendly, the food came out fast & was delicious and the prices are unbeatable! I would highly recommend going there to anyone who wants a great dining experience at a very reasonable cost.
If you look closely, you will see that this was written 2 years ago, when it was a good place to go. I was there a few weeks ago, for the first time in ages and agree with you. So, in response, I was neither drunk nor swayed by nepotism, simply giving an honest review at that time.
You must be drunk when you wrote this, or somewhat related to the restaurant owner. Service is bad, food is salty and lastly they only score 86 for hygiene. How good can that be ?
