A Review of the PedEgg

It Actually Works!

You've seen the commercials. Where a woman files down all the dead skin on her foot, and then dumps a whole lot of her foot shavings into a bin. Giant pictures of people's cracking, yellowing heels. The PedEgg claims to remove all callouses and to smooth out feet quickly, easily and painlessly.

After my pedi-paddle started peeling and wasn't so rough anymore, I decided to buy a flashy new PedEgg. My first thought was "Wow, this is really flimsy and light!" which it is. I expected it too be heavier and sturdier so that you can hold it properly, but it's very light, especially the blade.

So after having a shower, I used the PedEgg to file away the dead skin on my heels. I don't have any callouses, but I have very hard heels from dancing. I found that the PedEgg is best for removing skin from the heels, forget removing dead skin off your toes, ankles or anywhere else around your feet, because it won't work. The PedEgg is like a mini cheese grater (it looks like one, too!), and it won't grate cheese that isn't hard or large. You'll have to buy a pedi-paddle to use on those parts.

Filing at your heel is a really easy job thanks to the PedEgg, but I found that it's easier to file day-by-day instead of filing it all away at once, otherwise you might hit fresh skin. It's impossible to get rid of all that dead skin because using the PedEgg is not only tedious, it's totally boring! The PegEdd is best for getting rid of large areas of dead skin, once you get down to thin layers of skin, you should use a pedi paddle or a pumice stone. You have to work at it a lot to get soft, smooth heels, if you can't take it, go to a pedicurist!

The price of the PedEgg is very high compared to other pedi-paddles or pumice stones, for me it was $30, but I did get free emery boards (Woo hoo.). I know that you can buy it from TV offers though, and they usually come with specials such as buy one get one free or extra tools.

Rough, cracked heels will make stocking, shoes or socks wear out much faster than smooth heels will, so if you wear a lot of stockings or thin shoes without socks (such as ballet flats or sandals) the bottom of them will wear out quickly. The PedEgg is expensive, but it's almost necessary if you dance, wear a lot of footwear, love your feet or if you're getting ready for summer.
