A Review of Penzey's Spices Online Store

Here ye! Here ye! Calling all Cooks! Penzey's Spices is a place you need to check out for your spices. When it comes to cooking, I like to try not only a variety of spices but also unique blends of spices. I have been shopping online at Penzey's Spices for years. I started using Penzey's Spices when I began having problems trying to find fresh shallots at the grocery store. I saw someone posting on a forum about how good they were and even though you had to pay for shipping, it was well worth it.

My first item that I bought was a jar of freeze dried shallots. Penzey's shallots were actually sweeter than regular shallots. And I didn't have to worry about them going bad. They can last a long time if they are put in a dry cool place. You can't say the same thing about fresh shallots. What I liked the most was I knew I would always get a consistent fresh shallot flavor. Then I was hooked. I started buying their Hungarian sweet paprika and noticed a difference between theirs and McCormicks. Now, I buy all my spices through them.

Penzey's Spices sell spices that you cannot get at your grocery stores. For example, they sell spices like sausage seasonings ranging from Russian, Polish to German flavoring. You can get an international blends of salts and peppers that will make you a gourmet cook even if that wasn't your intention.

Recently I have tried two new seasonings called Tuscan Sunset and 4/S Smoky.

The Tuscan Sunset is salt free with an Italian seasoning blend of basil, oregano, Aleppo pepper, garlic, thyme, fennel, black pepper and anise. Now, that's Italian! It's great on all vegetables from zucchini to tomatoes. It's wonderful in a home made Italian pasta sauce.

The 4/S Smoky seasoning is a special seasoned sea salt which has a rich smokiness to bring flavor to your chicken, fish, hamburgers, salads, pork chops, sandwiches and just about anything you can think of for a barbeque flavoring. This has a smoky paprika that is added to other spices like the sea salt, sugar, extra bold black pepper, garlic, onions, and tumeric.

For the bakers they have a variety of spices like cinnamons from many part of the world, whole vanilla bean, double strength vanilla, vanilla sugar, variety of extracts, or crystallize ginger just to name a few.

They sell mills for your peppers or sea salt. You can create gift boxes of spices that can really add a special thought for that special friend who loves to cook.

Along with your order you will get a catalog filled with some great recipes so you can try out some of these spices.

They will give you a full refund or credit if you are not 100% satisfied. That is the first thing I have always checked out before I purchase anything online.

I love and know how to cook. My grandfather was an Italian cook, so it's in my blood. You won't go wrong trying Penzey's spices. Sometimes, having the right spice can separate the women from the girls.

I'm giving Penzey's a try. I grow a lot of my own spices but in the winter sometimes run out.

A few years ago, we received an entire crate of Penzey's Spices for Christmas. It proved to be a delightful treasure trove. We are still enjoying these aromatic products.

I love Penzey's. There's a store about an hour from my house but it's so much more convenient just to order on line. Great article!

MMMMM - Polish and German spices. I need a few more creative spices for my Thanksgiving German Beef Tongue dinner. Joking - but that is actually what my German mom made for us at the holidays. Great article!
