A Review - Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johhny Depp) is stranded in a fantasy world alone with his imagination running wild. Hollywood CGI (computer generated imagery) takes advantage of the situation in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. Of course, I am at lost at how Captain Jack is still alive after being swallowed by the giant octopus. I reckon the storyline has been degraded into a fantasy world out of touch with all reality for the sake of inserting as many CGI effects as possible to sell the movie. Captain Jack Sparrow's (Johnny Depp) competition with the Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) is hilarious! Well, at least the sworn enemies are fighting on the same side now. The Pompous British Navy is once again shed in a light of cruelty & injustice & a pirate child is among those hanged to death in the gallows at the beginning of the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie.

Chow Yun Fat makes his grand entrance as a Singaporean pirate, Captain Sao Feng. Plenty of pirate swash buckling fighting scenes in the movie as the British navy is hot on their heels. Will Turner manages to secure the help of Captain Sao Feng (Chow Yun Fat) in exchange for handing over Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). The movie hosts a continuation of resounding treachery between the pirates each to accomplish their own goals. Off they go with Captain Barbossa in a Chinese junk ship to look for Jack Sparrow. It seems that Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) may have mixed feelings about Jack & Will after she kisses Jack in the second Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) talks to Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) like he smells the stinking breath & then smells his own breath.

Well, there is a lack of tooth paste in the days of the sailing pirates. I guess the smell of Rum is better than bad breath in those days. Speaking of Rum, there seems to be a lack of Captain Jack becoming drunk in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. Perhaps it is done so to make the movie more children friendly. Only when seeing the extended scenes where Captain Davy Jones talks a lot did I notice that Captain Davy Jones is played by the idiosyncratic acting style of Bill Nighy. Former friends find themselves on the opposite sides of deals but only temporarily in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. Calypso, the powerful spirit of the sea is then successfully released from her human form, Tia Dalma (Naomi Harris) & the pirates use her power to fight the invincible fleet of Captain Davy Jones & the British Navy Armada.

Surprisingly, Elizabeth becomes the Pirate King & gives out an inspiring speech for the pirates to go & fight to the death in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End. As usual the orchestra heightened music brings the excitement & spirit in preparation of an enigmatic battle! A battle of enormous proportion would ensue as the united pirates of the world fight it out with the British armada & the legendary Flying Dutchman who has Captain Davy Jones at its helm. You also have Will Turner proposing to Elizabeth & during an intense fight & Captain Barbosa acts as priest & marry them. Too bad Will Turner & Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) kill each other in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. The Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), leading the British armada loses his wits & his majestic three tiered cannon ship is blown to pieces by the guns of both the Black Pearl & Flying Dutchman from both sides. He became too dumb struck & can't even say the word "Fire!"

It is not quite the marvelous epic battle ending as the rest of the British armada scurries away without a fight. The three tiered British warship looks so good that it is a waste that it does not perform at all in the final epic battle scene of the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie. It is so disappointing! The pirate king or rather the pirate queen, Elizabeth chooses to join her husband (Rather her dead & condemned for eternity husband), Captain Will Turner of the legendary Flying Dutchman ship even only for a brief meeting. What is most notable in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End movie is that there are a lot of Captains in the movie with Elizabeth & Will being new captains.
