A Review of Ryan's Steakhouse Located in Seymour, Indiana

Thumbs Down

I recently visited Ryan's Steakhouse in Seymour, Indiana. It is located at one of the few stops along I-65 en route from Corydon, Indiana to Indianapolis, Indiana. I arrived just past the dinner hour so the restaurant was not very crowded.

When you enter the restaurant, you will see the ordering line. It is there that you receive your silverware, your drinks and place your order. Ryan's Steakhouse in Seymour, Indiana features steaks, chicken, shrimp and a buffet as well as a variety of drinks on its menu. Ryan's is famous for their hot rolls and honey butter. The soft, sweet, warm rolls are accentuated by the creamy honey butter. The rolls alone are worth the trip to Ryan's Steakhouse.

My mother, granddaughter and I all ordered the buffet. The cost of our dinner and drinks came to about $28.00 (that was for two adults and one child under 10). The server was soon at our table with plates and warm rolls. We proceeded to the buffet where we were greeted with a variety of food. I chose the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, carved ham, seafood salad, tossed salad with ranch dressing and banana pudding for dessert

I found the cornbread stuffing to be ice cold so I did not eat more than a bite of it. In addition, the ham was carved to thick for my taste. However, I did enjoy the seafood salad. It had just the right combination of imitation crabmeat, celery, spice and mayonnaise to make it taste just right.

My granddaughter wanted ice cream for dessert. I was disappointed when I went to the ice cream machine and found no bowls. I went to the first of two ice cream dispensers and found that the ice cream in it did not appear to be edible. However, I was able to get my granddaughter ice cream from the second dispenser.

The service too was poor. After giving us our rolls and plates, the server seemed to vanish. She did not remove our used plates or refill our drinks until I flagged her down. This is part of her job and it should have been easy to accomplish because the restaurant was not crowded. Apparently, she did not need my tip.

Although, I have visited other Ryan's Steakhouses in different locations and have found the food and service to be excellent; the Ryan's Steakhouse in Seymour, Indiana fell far short from what I have come to expect from this chain. I would not recommend Ryan's Steakhouse located along I-65 to anyone. I found the food to be cold and the service to be slow. Maybe next time I am traveling through Seymour, Indiana along I-65, I will try the Cracker Barrel restaurant instead.

My husband and I always make it a point to eat at "RYAN'S" in Salem every chance we get. We have "NEVER,EVER" had any problems with our waitresses or the food being cold or unable to eat. The staff has "ALWAY'S" been very friendly and our drinks have "NEVER" been empty. It is a shame the other gentleman had a bad experience and I feel he should give them another chance and if he is still unhappy I am sure his money would be refunded!!
