A Review of the Samsung 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV

Great Picture and Great Quality

It has taken me a while but I finally decided to jump on the HDTV bandwagon.

I have wanted to get one for awhile, but frankly I was waiting for the prices to come down. After the switchover to digital, I have seen a gradual lowing of the prices, so I decided to start shopping.

After doing some research, I found the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV at Best Buy for $999.99. Yeah it's still a lot of money, but it is a lot of television.

It has a 40 inch screen, which is plenty big for my living room. I already had my old 26 inch set on a decent sized table, so putting the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV posed no problem.

Getting it home and setting it up was not a problem either. I had contemplated hanging the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV on the wall, but changed my mind. That would have entailed moving a large picture that sits above the television, and frankly, I like the picture where it is. If I change my mind on this score, it won't be a problem. The Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV is only 3 inches deep.

The picture on the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV is incredible. It has a 16:9 wide angle view, (which is about the same as a movie theater.) so you get the entire picture, and don't miss anything. This has long been a pet peeve for me. I absolutely hate it when you are watching the news, or even a documentary, and they have a graphic or text at the bottom of the screen, and part of it gets cut off. The Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV doesn't lose anything.

Then there is the High Definition angle to consider. When HD first came out, I looked at it and was very impressed. You could practically count every blade of grass on the lawn, or every leaf in the trees. However the cost was prohibitive. The Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV would have probably cost twice as much had it been around when I started looking for one.

The Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV has so much to offer, that I found it well worth the $1000.00.

I hooked up the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV to my surround system, my DVD player, and the satellite receiver, and used the HDMI inputs. There are four, so I have one to spare, unless I get my hands on another component to plug into the Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV.

I have had other Samsung products over the years and I have always been happy with them. The Samsung - 40" 1080p / LCD HDTV is no exception.
