A Review of Samsung's Competitively Priced 40" LCD HDTV Model LN40A530

When it comes to flat panel televisions Samsung has a large product line which includes some of the most expensive products on the market. Luckily for the average consumer they have placed some of that impressive high end technology that they've developed into their more reasonably priced models. So it is no surprise that retailers have seen models like the LN40A530 a 40" LCD HD television become such a popular seller. In this article I'm going to let you know from my first hand experience how much I enjoyed the LN40A530.

Product Overview:

Upon first glance this high definition flat panel doesn't really set itself away from the crowd. This can be a good thing because matte black finishes and funny colored bezel don't typically end up looking great in your living room. The screen is framed by the market standard glossy black bezel with the speakers cleanly integrated and hidden within the frame. The swiveling base is also a glossy black and I found it to be very sturdy. The Samsung LN40A530 can also be mounted with a mounting bracket which wasn't included. I found the remote control to be simple to use and the button placements intuitive.

I found the 1080p picture quality to be outstanding. I used my PlayStation 3 to deliver a true 1080p Blueray signal via HDMI. I found that the blacks were adequately deep but don't come close to Samsungs Touch of Color (ToC) line. This would be undetectable unless you have the two side by side. I found that the viewing angle was excellent allowing for every seat in my living room a great view of the screen. As is typical for LCD televisions the screen has a bit of a matte finish and looks great in my bright living room.

The connectivity goes above and beyond with 3 HDMI ports as well as a host of composite and A/V inputs. There is a panel of inputs on the side that I found exceptionally convenient. The PC input worked well and I had no trouble syncing my laptop and displaying a movie with my computer's DVD player.

Product Value:

It has become easier and easier to find high quality name brand big screen LCD's on the market. This Samsung LN40A530 is a prime example of a high quality electronic at a bargain price. For less than $900 at most retailers I consider this Samsung to be one of the more competitive 40 inch flat panels on the market. If you're a savy consumer then I would certainly consider this HDTV.
