The Basics:
Design and Display:
The Xperia X1 comes in a very typical design with unique triangular buttons. The 145 Gms phone, available in steel silver and solid black, comes with pretty curved edges and a smooth aluminum body with hints of chrome thrown in. The smooth as silk slider keypad is just another feather in the design of the X1. The keys are comfortably placed and do not torture the thumbs while typing. For those used to bulky windows mobiles, the phone comes as a welcome break.
The phone comes with a 3 inch TFT resistive touch screen with support for 65 K colors. Panel based navigation makes browsing the phone much easier since similar applications can be bunched together on the seven panels provided. In addition to the 4 way navigation control, the phone also comes with an optical control wherein the mouse traces the finger over the screen. Other features of this great touch screen are handwriting recognition, a virtual QWERTY keypad and an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation.
Multimedia:
The 3.15 MP camera is the only feature that could be termed as deficient in the phone. A higher resolution camera with better features could have placed the phone at the top of the lot. The camera though comes with a great auto focus and 3X digital zoom which ensures great quality pictures. An excellent LED flash complements the other features perfectly.
The camera can also be used to record good quality videos and a secondary camera is also provided for making video calls.
The phone comes with the all powerful Windows Media Player which is capable of playing music and movies in almost any format. Create your own play lists, synchronize media from your pc and even stream music from the internet with the Media Player.
Enjoy music on Bluetooth A2D speakers or plug-in your favorite headphone to get the best of your music and movies.
You can also record music directly from the FM radio which comes built in to the phone.
Organizer and Email:
The phone comes with a very efficient organizer complete with a local calendar so you always stay ahead of surprises.
Push email, Microsoft outlook, POP3 or IMAP: You name it and you have it. Every form of email support comes built into the phone.
