Product Overview:
At first glance I found this HDTV to be less attractive than the other models. In order to fit that extra component it appears to be much wider on the left hand side. This is also the side where all of the controls are located. You can see that thick portion right as you enter my bedroom. If you're considering this television consider placing it with the left hand frame away from view. The frame is a matte like black finish with a table top stand in the same shade. The speaker is below the display and produces average, slightly tinny notes. The remote is simple and intuitive, perhaps one of Dynex's more shining achievements with this television.
I found the picture to be clear and crisp with an HD source. This HD television is able to produce a display boasting a resolution of 720p. This is perfect for this size of screen. The DVD's play well and the built in player provides an excellent picture quality. I found the screen to handle the brightly lit room well and provided a nice viewing angle. The biggest downfall when it came to picture was the light shades of black. It has a contrast ratio of merely 1000:1.
As would be expected the inputs are somewhat limited on this HDTV. Since this is a DVD/HDTV combo you won't be taking up a valuable HDMI or composite input for an DVD player. As a result you'll only find a single HDMI port as well as a component input. There is however a PC input which makes this a great candidate for the dorm room. What could be better than a flat panel monitor that can act not only as a high definition television but also includes a DVD player? Talk about space saving when it's needed most.
Product Value:
Priced at less than $350 the Dynex DX-LTDVD22-09 HDTV/DVD combo really is a good deal. While it may not provide the best picture out there, for the money it is hard to deny the Dynex.
