A Review of the Speck Pixelskin HD Case for the IPhone 4

Finding a good case for the iPhone can be a trial and error process. I my quest to find a good case for my iPhone 4, I tried the Speck Pixelskin HD case. In this article, I offer my review of the Speck Pixelskin HD case for the iPhone 4.

There are several things that I look for in a phone case. First, I want phone protection. Second, I want the case to allow comfortable and normal use of the phone. Finally, I would like for the case to be aesthetically pleasing.

The Speck Pixelskin HD case for the iPhone 4 is a relatively thin case, made of a sturdy, somewhat inflexible plastic. Mine is black, though they offer them in other colors. The Speck Pixelskin HD case covers the back and sides of the iPhone 4, including the volume buttons and the sleep/wake button.

As far as phone protection is concerned, I don't think that the Speck Pixelskin HD for the iPhone 4 is the best case available for the iPhone 4. As I said above, the case is made of a relatively thin plastic. I don't think that this material would do a good job protecting the iPhone from falls. Likewise, the case doesn't do much as far as screen protection is concerned. The Pixelskin HD case offers minimal depth between the iPhone screen and any surface the cased phone might be rested on.

The Speck Pixelskin HD for the iPhone 4 is a more or less comfortable case to use. The squares on the back of the case offer some traction in a user's hand, but the material the case is made of is somewhat slick. The case could easily allow a phone to fall out of a person's pocket or hand. The size of the phone in the case is reasonable.

Finally, the case is aesthetically pleasing. While my Speck Pixelskin HD case is a simple black, it looks nice. It is understated and would be appropriate in a professional setting.

All in all, I do not recommend the Speck Pixelskin HD ase for the iPhone 4. This case offers little protection for the iPhone, is only somewhat comfortable to use, and is far too expensive for what you get with it, at $30. While I very much enjoy the Speck Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for the iPhone 4 and the iPad (reviewed here), I think that there are better case options for the iPhone 4 than the Speck Pixelskin HD case. I settled on the OtterBox Defender, which I review here.

Have you used the Speck Pixelskin HD case for the iPhone? If so, feel free to share your thoughts on it in the comments section below. Thanks for reading!
