A Review of Sprint PCS Mobile Web Application

SDR2010
For a few months now Sprint has been telling customers that they will be releasing a new version of their mobile web which users can access through their mobile devices. The reason they are doing this is because of the fact that the prior version that they offered had a lot of problems, it was very slow at times and offered a search bar that nobody actually wanted to use. This meant that users had to go through the trouble of typing Google.com anytime they wanted to look at something. This was annoying to me as a user and not very efficient. However, I did like the fact that I was able to do almost anything with my phone that I would do on a computer and this was running on their 3G service so when they upgraded to Rev A service and promised some changes I was very happy. According to Sprint this was going to be a unique web experience for each person. They were going to do this by allowing you to choose the things which appeared on your home page so that you have everything you need when you launch the browser. They would also keep track of the things you do on your phone so that they could add them to your home screen when the browser is launched.

They said this would change the way you looking at mobile browsing and also change the way that you use your phone. I was very excited to use this service when it first came out two weeks ago because I expected that I would be a lot faster than anything that they had offered before but when I got to use it I was very disappointed. The reason for this is that it does not do anything they said it would do. There is no way for them to customize your content and I was not able to set things on my home screen at all. I tried for about thirty minutes and I am stuck with the same home screen that they offers which is the same one they offered before they developed this service so there was no change at all which I found to be annoying. Also, all of the categories on the browser are the same even though they
promised they would change them. The one thing that is different about this revamped service is that when you launch it you can see a list of news links which you may or may not be interested in. I am someone who loves to read the news but I find that these links only have interesting stories about 10% of the time and even when they do if you click the link you will find that it does not actually direct you anywhere. Once the page attempts to load you get an error. Sprint let me down there are very little changes here and the web browser no longer finds any page I want. It does not work and I am left disappointed.
