A Review of Tropical Goodies Restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina: Caribbean Eats & Treats
Caribbean Eats & Treats

I have been a personal fan of Tropical Goodies for many years. Recently under new management, Tropical Goodies brings the same Caribbean kitchen flavor to Charlotteans now, as it did on day one. Their menu consists of many Caribbean classics: Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Curry Goat, Oxtails, Rum Cake and much more. They also offer a nice selection of authentic beverages imported from the Islands. I always grab a ginger beer with my order! Their side dishes vary, but macaroni and cheese, cabbage, and rice are always on the menu.
Tropical Goodies is conveniently located at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Lasalle Street. Tucked away in a small shopping center, it is easy to miss. The service is always fast and friendly, with my meal prepared just right. They only offer take out service, so you can call in your order at (704) 399-6001 and pick it up on the way home for a nice change from the norm. I prefer stopping by for a tasty "home cooked" meal versus burgers and fries on nights I'm not in the mood to cook! The parking lot is very small, but they do have additional parking beside the shopping center.
Each meal is seasoned with authentic Caribbean flavor. There are other Caribbean restaurants in the area, but none bring the same quality to the table. Not mentioning any names, but other local Caribbean restaurants have watered down the traditional seasonings for commercial appeal. Tropical Goodies doesn't hold back on the spices or portions. A large order can feed 2, while a small order feeds one with leftovers (unless you eat like I do!)
While other restaurants pop in and out of Charlotte, Tropical Goodies has weathered the storm by supplying the demand for a more cultured palate. I definitely recommend them for a change of pace. It doesn't offer a sit down dining experience, but you will get to enjoy their cuisine in the comforts of home!
