A Review of Uncle Bub's Hickory Smoked BBQ Restaurant in Westmont, Illinois

A jovial pig graces the façade of Uncle Bub's Hickory Smoked BBQ Restaurant in Westmont, Illinois. This family friendly, casual eatery is one of my favorite hot spots for pit smoked barbeque in the Chicagoland area. Fresh cuts of meat coupled with flavorful rubs and sauces and slow smoking techniques, make this family business a suburban superstar.

The atmosphere at Uncle Bub's is always fantastically friendly and fun. And if you have young children, never mind keeping them quiet, because this restaurant is alive and bubbling with music, personality, laughter and charm.

The décor of Uncle Bub's represents the epitome of down home country cooking. Sturdy wooden picnic table style booths are roomy enough for the entire family. And the walls are adorned with everything from antique farm tools to Americana memorabilia. But my favorite detail are the overturned galvanized steel buckets used as bright and nifty light fixtures that smartly dangle over the large tables.

Uncle Bub's Hickory Smoked BBQ Restaurant delivers a menu jam packed with hearty options. Scrumptious appetizers include: onion blossoms, riblets, nachos and chicken wings. We usually kick off our meal with a cup of spicy homemade chili served with cheese and onions for just $2.39.

The menu also boasts ribs, chicken and seafood specials ranging in price from $9.99 to $18.49. Some options include: baby back ribs, barbeque and broasted chicken, pecan crusted catfish, beef brisket and barbequed sliced beef. My husband always chooses the full slab of baby back ribs, rich in hickory and applewood flavors and terrifically tender. I just love Uncle Bub's Pig Pickin' Pulled Pork Sandwich which melts in the mouth and is drenched in a warm and tangy sauce.

Perhaps my favorite portion of Uncle Bub's menu board is the homemade side dish section. Over a dozen of delectable selections are offered such as: cole slaw, baked beans, fries, potato salad, corn, chili, stew, baked potatoes and salad. My absolute favorite side dish, however, has got to be the fried macaroni and cheese; a hot and bubbly, cheesy noodle casserole. Each and every dinner option at Uncle Bub's includes two of these sensational sides!

Uncle Bub's serves beer, wine and mixed drinks as well as fountain sodas and thick milkshakes. Our favorite dessert choice is definitely the Auntie's Homemade Banana Pudding for $3.69. It's light and creamy and a delightful finish to this comfort food extravaganza.

Uncle Bub's also features an extensive catering menu for 15 guests or more. Pitmaster's Buffets, Grill Packages, Royal Hawaiian Luaus and Hickory Smoked Pig Roasts are just a few of the unique dining experiences available for parties and banquets. I recently finished writing my second romance novel, however, I am still waiting patiently to be published. I am a firm believer in the old addage, "write what you know." I always try to follow that credo...  View profile
