A Review of the Wallet Friendly 32" Dynex LCD HDTV Model DX-LCD32-09

A Flat Panel Most Consumers Will Be Able to Afford

Savvy consumers are always looking for the best deal. Those looking for a nice new big screen HD television are no exception. Some of the most popular models come from discount brands like Vizio and Dynex. These less expensive brands are typically produced with the same level of quality and customer service as many of the top name manufacturers. Because of its popularity recently I've taken the opportunity to pick up and review one of these discount flat panels; the Dynex 32 inch flat panel LCD model DX-LCD32-09.

Product Overview:

The exterior of this Dynex LCD HDTV is a bit of a departure from the typical flat panel design. The frame is a less flashy matte black versus the more common glossy bezel. Subtle changes like this are what in my opinion it makes these televisions stand out from the pack. The built in stand follows the same matte black design but is fixed and stationary unlike some of the other sets in its class. The DX-LCD32-09 is also a bit bulkier than I typically like to see in my flat panels with wide framing around the screen and a thicker body in general; however it isn't a deal breaker for me.

The screen produces a crisp bright 720p display which isn't "true HD". This wasn't a problem for me because to truly take advantage of a 1080p display you would need a larger set anyway, so don't let this deter you. The contrast ratio is listed at 1200:1 and fails to produce very deep shades of black. I did find that it had an adequate viewing angle and its bright screen worked well in my brightly lit room.

The connectivity is average and for the price I really wouldn't have expected any more. It comes with two HDMI inputs as well as a host of others including composite. I was able to use the additional PC input to turn this big screen into a monitor, it looked great browsing through my holiday photos.

Product Value:

Dynex typically lists their televisions for a good deal less then their competitors. This 32 inch DX-LCD32-09 is no exception currently making an appearance at just under $400. It is hard to get a new flat panel of this size for any less and when you combine that with it's decent quality it is hard to turn this one down. I recommend it for the bed or dorm room as well as possibly an oversized monitor.
