A Review of the Westinghouse 26 Inch LCD 720p HDTV Model: SK-26H730S

Recently LCD televisions have really become available to just about everyone no matter their budget. This holiday season's Black Friday advertisements have already shown deep discounts on flat panel televisions of every size placing them even more in reach. A popular low cost brand has been Westinghouse. This year Target's Black Friday circular includes the Westinghouse 26 inch LCD 720p HDTV for less than $300 which is a remarkable deal. I have taken the opportunity to get my hands on one of these TVs and I'm going to let you know how it performed for me.

Product Overview:

This Westinghouse HDTV is beautifully framed by a glossy black plastic bezel. It has a sturdy but squat stand, also glossy black. I noticed that mine is a dust magnet, although it is easy to clean. The 26 inch TV isn't the thinnest flat panel but Westinghouse makes up for this by placing some extra ports on the right hand side including a PC input. I found this to be a wonderfully convenient placement, and it was very easy to sync this television to my laptop.

The picture quality is good especially it's high definition picture. The set has a 720p The standard definition picture is adequate. My only complaint is that it takes a long time to change the channel. This can be circumvented by using a digital box from your satellite or cable provider. It isn't a make or break thing but the slow channel changing is brutally annoying. The sound provided by the built in speakers is impressive for this price range and size. The speakers provide full sound and will fill a room.

The Westinghouse name may not ring any bells for a lot of customers however they are one of the most popular budget flat panel TV manufacturers. They boast a less than 2% failure rate which surpasses the industry standard. I have had some trouble with syncing my PS3 via HDMI in the past with the Westinghouse brand however it wasn't a problem with this television. They also maintain a great customer service department in the event you do come end up with a lemon.

The typical price for the Westinghouse 26" LCD 720p HDTV is just over $400. At that price it is a great bargain. On Black Friday this television is going to truly be a steal. It would do well in anyone's bedroom or as a great small living room flat panel.
