A Romantic Evening on a Budget in Williamsburg, Va
Neighborhood: Colonial Williamsburg

"Virginia is for Lovers" and Williamsburg is one of her more romantic cities. Sure there are plenty of fancy restaurants and expensive jewelry stores, but how does a nice guy on a budget show a girl a good time?

Fall and Winter are approaching, and when the leaves change colors in Williamsburg it's a beautiful sight to see, especially in the downtown area, where the 18th century environment adds to the appeal. It's a great time of year to pick up your girl for an after diner date. Take her to the college bookstore for coffee, you could even splurge on a slice a marble pound cake for the lady. You can use the 2 hour free parking right in the Barnes and Noble parking lot. Then take your coffee and stroll down Duke of Gloucester street. Something about having a warm cup of coffee on a chilly autumn evening makes everything right with the world. If you time it right, you could see a beautiful sunset. However being late has it's benefits too, in the dark the tree's are lit up by the moon and you can see lights pouring out from the little homes. There's also a good chance that a ghost tour will pass by you. A group of tourists all holding lanterns while their guide tells them the spooky history of Williamsburg, it gives the evening a magical feel .

I love going here in the winter time too, just make sure you bundle up and get a big cup of that coffee to keep you warm throughout your stroll. I'm sure you can think of a few other ways to keep each other warm. There's added appeal to coming here when the temperature is so low, for one the warmth of the coffee and your arms around each other feel that much better. Secondly it's the holiday season, and if you come at the right time you can hear the music coming from the Bruton Parish Church.

No matter what time of year it is, I always love to spend a little while on my favorite bench in front of the kings arms restaurant. I'll let you use my bench for your date. You can sit there with your date for a while, people watch and talk. Appreciate each other's company and enjoy the romantic environment. You don't need a lot of money to impress a girl. All you really have to do is a little bit of planning and if you're in the Williamsburg area, all the romance is right here just waiting for you. You'll go home tonight, think about what a great time you had and guess what you only spent $10!!
