Today I gave a rose;
To my beloved mother;
To let her know;
That I love her still;
That I still remember;
The good things she taught me;
Her beautiful voice when she sang;
And the perfectly played piano;
A music box that plays forever;
Spearmint gum and balls of yarn;
Peanut butter cups and plain iced tea;
Warm summer nights on the front porch;
Savoring her homemade popsicles;
And root beer floats;
Her face turning bright crimson;
At the sound of a dirty joke;
Lawn darts and backyard barbeques;
Baking pies and wrapping gifts;
Until two or three in the morning;
All the holidays that she oversaw;
Dressing us in our Sunday best;
Telling us ghost stories on stormy nights;
Her earring collection and African violets;
I see her lying on her stomach;
Watching TV and snacking on cold spaghetti;
Playing "Tetris" while I made dinner;
And with an open mind and heart;
Accepted and embraced my new faith;
So many things remind me;
Of a difficult, but wonderful life that still lives on;
She never believed it when she lived;
But I pray that she knows it now;
How beautiful that she truly was and is;
And that she will always be loved.
To my beloved mother;
To let her know;
That I love her still;
That I still remember;

This is so beautiful and intimate Lisa. Reading it has made my day.
Lisa, your words always come straight from your Heart.......and go straight to someone else's heart. This is so touching......The simple pleasures of a little girl's life, sometimes Mothers don't realize just how much those seemingly little things, can impact their children. Memories sustain us through some pretty tough times, I can tell from ALL of your writings that your mother was a pretty awesome woman
and she raised a pretty awesome daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 stars for this one+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Love and Prayers Dear Sister and ~ a

What a beautiful tribute. This evokes many of the memories I have of the summers spent with my Grandparents in Riverside. Great job!
Beautiful, she sounds like she wasn't just your mother, but a friend!
Lisa, this is a beautiful song of love to your mother for whom your heart so strongly yearns (we can all see more clearly why now).
