A Rumored Engagement for Blake Sennett, Winona Ryder

It is rumored that actress Winona Ryder and guitarist Blake Sennett are engaged. Their publicists are denying the rumors. Winona Ryder known from movies such as Girl Interrupted and Edward Sissorhands has previously been linked with many different rock stars such as Counting Crows' Adam Duritz and Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes. Winona Ryder was also previously engaged to Matt Damon. Blake Sennett is the guitarist for the indie rock band Rilo Kiley. He has made appearances in several TV's shows such as Boy Meets world, and Third rock from the Sun.

While only time will tell if Ryder and Sennett are truly engaged, I do have some experience in hidden or secret engagements. When my husband proposed to me we kept our engagement a secret from all of our friends and family for while. When he proposed to me, it was close to my sisters wedding and I didn't want to overshadow her wedding. I didn't want her to feel like the focus was on anyone else but her for her wedding.

We only kept our engagement a secret for about a month, but it was one of the hardest months. I had a really hard time not rushing and calling my parents to tell them the good news. I am very close to my family and I tell them everything so it was hard to not share something I was so excited about. One of the hardest things about not telling my friends and family is that they could tell something was up. My friends kept asking me what was going on, they could tell I was excited about something. It was hard work keeping such a big secret. It was hard to not wear my engagement ring, I would actually put it on when I was at home by myself. But now I get to wear my wedding ring all the time so it was all worth it.

After my sisters wedding we told everybody and they were all very excited for us. Looking back on the situation, I am glad that I decided to wait to tell everyone. It was hard to gush to my friends and family right away, but it was all worth it. I know that by not bringing up my engagement my sister had a great wedding and all the ficus was on her. Also a surprise benefit of not telling everyone right away is that my husband and I had a special little secret between just us. It is one of the few times that you can share such a special secret with someone.

It was so hard to keep the secret from the prying questions of my friends and my family. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to keep an engagement secret when you are a celebrity. It would be nearly impossible when you have the paparazzi following you around and taking pictures. I know what a hard secret this is to keep, and I know that anyone keeping a secret like this must be keeping it for a good reason.
