Ever since I was a child (I'm in my 30's now) I can remember the one consistent Christmas event my family has enjoyed together is the Randolph County Christmas Parade. This year (2010) finds the parade being held on December 4. The parade begins at 6:00 pm and is always free to enjoy. Contact Randolph County Chamber of Commerce at 870-892-3956 if you need additional information. Other events taking place in Randolph County, Arkansas that specifically involve Christmas and the holiday season can be found by clicking here.
Jonesboro's annual parade by The Jonesboro Jaycees will be held on December 2, 2010. This year's theme is Christmas through the Ages. The time the parade begins has not been announced so for additional information see here when it becomes available.
If you have a chance, stop by the Horseshoe Bend Theatre on the third day of each month to enjoy music and a variety show this holiday season. Donations are appreciated for admissions and concession stands are always available. The theatre is located at 811 Second Street, Horseshoe Bend, AR, 72512. If you require additional information such as time of opening the contact is Melodie Clemmons at 1-870-373-3303
One place I have always wanted to visit during the holiday season is "Caroling in the Caverns". Caroling in the Caverns takes place at Blanchard Springs Caverns in their Cathedral room. The music is amazing. This is the ninth year for the event and the previous eight years sold out. The website where tickets can be ordered states: One guest described it best, "I was deep in the earth and yet I've never felt closer to Heaven."Tickets are $18.00 per person. Combination tickets that include an early bird tour are $25.00. There are no group or child rates. Caroling in the Caverns runs from Saturday November 27, 2010 to Sunday December 19, 2010 at Blanchard Springs Caverns, 107 N. Peabody Ave, PO Box 133, Mountain View Arkansas, 72560.
An Arts and Crafts show will be held in Jonesboro, AR for this 2010 season. The Lit'l Bita Christmas Arts and Crafts Show will be held beginning November 13, 2010 and ending November 15, 2010. The event runs from 12:00pm-7:00pm on Friday. The Lit'l Bita Christmas Arts and Craft Show will also be open from 9:00am-6:00pm on Saturday and from 12:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday. Adult ticket price is $4.00. Children aged 13-18 and Senior Citizens are charged $3 for tickets. A combined weekend ticket is $7.00.
