Supplies
You don't need to know how to scrapbook at all. You can purchase a small photo album and simply insert the pictures in the allotted spaces. You might put a label on or near each picture to indicate who was in the picture or where the picture was taken.
To make a book with unique pages and from scratch, you will need the following:
Paper to fit the size of your album
Stickers or stamps (not required)
Double sided tape or glue (tape works best)
Scissors
Scrapbook album
Embellishments (not required)
Decorative hole punch (not required)
Suggestions/Guidelines
It's best to choose a size of 8" x 8" or 6" x 6" to make it small and personal enough for them to take and share with others.
Select a small amount of pictures to place on your page. Depending on the size, you may not be able to fit any more than one or two pictures per page. Try not to confuse the page with too many pictures. Determine the placement of the picture on the paper. It does not have to be exactly centered. It can be off center or in a corner. Put it where ever you choose. That's the beauty of creating it yourself!
You might need to crop the picture (trim it). If there is excess scenery or a bunch of stuff in the picture you don't want, you can cut it out. You may need to trim it so it will fit on the page.
Tape the picture to the page.
Start adding items to the page now.
If you want, you can find different types of embellishments at just about any craft store. These are things like clips, buttons, stickers, bows, ribbons, etc. These are good to add to the pages after you are done adding the picture. This spices it up a little bit.
Stamps are used a lot on scrapbook pages. If you have some with quotes that are fitting, these are also a nice touch.
Make your first page an introduction to the entire album. Perhaps you want to list a dedication to the person you're making the book for. You could also notate the event, year and people in attendance.
Sometimes when purchasing the small scrapbook albums, they come in a neat little case. This can be used as the box for wrapping the item.
This is a great gift to give that special someone that's difficult to buy for. This not only applies to Christmas gifts but can also be gifts for birthdays, anniversary's, celebrations, retirement, etc. The sky is the limit.
