"The Mentalist" Continues to Shine in Season 3

The first shows of the season for "The Mentalist" has some new character twists for Agent Rigsby and Agent Cho. Of course, Patrick Jane continues to be the main actor, however, we are learning more about the personalities of Rigsby and Cho in "The Mentalist."

One new twist to "The Mentalist" has Agent Rigsby in the spotlight with questions about Agent Cho's unshakable character while another episode focuses a bit on Rigsby chasing after a pretty FBI agent.

In The "Bloodsport" Episode of "The Mentalist"

In this episode of "The Mentalist" it appears that Investigator J.J. LaRoche played by Pruitt Taylor Vince, has been digging into Rigsby's files and has turned up information that Rigsby's father was a criminal. Rigsby's father was a leader of a motorcycle gang with illegal activities and Rigsby lied to police by giving his father an alibi that would keep him out of jail. Fascinated by this, LaRoche summons Rigsby to his office to question him.

LaRoche contends that criminal behavior is inherited so Agent Rigsby may be predisposed to this same behavior of his father. Rigsby is confused by all this questioning on his past and gets pretty miffed. At one point he tells LaRoche that Agent Cho was also with him that particular night and can back him up. As the questioning continues, Rigsby gets up and leaves LaRoche's office very angry.

LaRoche, however, plays the determined investigator and will not be stopped. He then summons Agent Cho into his office. Since Agent Cho and Rigsby are partners, LaRoche wants to pick Cho's brain regarding Rigsby's character. He also wants to know whether or not Cho was really with Rigsby and his father.

Rigsby quietly explains to Cho what LaRoche is looking for. Rigsby has to ask his partner to lie for him so that Rigsby can keep his job. The unshakable Cho tells Rigsby that he will not lie for anybody and heads in to the office to meet with LaRoche.

Agent Cho plays a cool and unshakable character in "The Mentalist." He quietly sits in front of LaRoche at his desk and waits to be questioned. As LaRoche asks Cho whether or not he was an alibi for Rigsby's father, viewers wait with abated breath for Cho's answer.

Cho, so calmly and intently, looks at LaRoche and answers in the affirmative which sends shockwaves through the "The Mentalist" viewers. It appears that the unshakable Cho does have a sense of compassion.

As "The Mentalist" continues, will we see more glimpses into the personality of Agent Cho? Will Agent Cho tell funny jokes, lose his cool, or become soft with a suspect? His cool and unshakable character has been a plus on "The Mentalist" as even the actions of Patrick Jane do not appear to surprise him.

In the "Bloodhounds" Episode of "The Mentalist"

In this episode of the "The Mentalist," Agent Rigsby now appears to be making moves on an FBI Agent that is working with Patrick Jane. The audience focuses again on Rigsby during this episode.

Agent Rigsby and the FBI Agent, Montague appear to have some chemistry between them and Patrick Jane who can see everything through his psychic ability, tells Rigsby that "You should you know." He's, of course, referring to asking Montague out.

Rigsby does get up the courage to ask Montague out and they go to dinner. When Rigsby suggests to Montague that they continue seeing each other, Montague refuses. She explains that she can see that Rigsby is in love with someone else so their relationship wouldn't work.

The Drama Between Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon Heats Up

The drama continues between Sr. Agent Teresa Lisbon and Patrick Jane on "The Mentalist." Lisbon is told by her supervisor to "Keep Jane in line or her job is on the line." This presents quite a challenge for Lisbon as Patrick Jane notoriously oversteps his boundaries to do what he thinks should be done. Lisbon, who goes by the book must now find ways to reign him in. This is not an easy challenge as Jane has very unconventional and sometimes illegal methods of solving crimes on "The Mentalist."

Patrick Jane's Character

Patrick Jane's witty sarcasm continues to be humorous while sometimes catching us off guard. His description of a possible suspect as a "dimly lit clown" is quite funny. Jane likes to make sarcastic remarks towards people in an effort to intimidate them. His use of uncommon words such as "snarky" helps define Jane and his role on "The Mentalist" while impressing the audience. Is snarky really a word or did Patrick Jane make it up? I'll let you answer that.

As the season unfolds on "The Mentalist" will we see more character play from Agent Rigsby and Agent Cho? It's enlightening to learn more about their personalities and see them in the spotlight along with Patrick Jane. Of course, Patrick Jane will always be the center of attention on this show, however, a little insight into the other characters so far has been a plus for "The Mentalist."
