A Sharp Pain in My Stomach

Regret

Olga L. Chacon
I feel the sun
burning on my face
like there's no windshield.
My pants are soaked in sweat.
I see people getting off
from their flights now,
they're standing on the edge
of the sidewalk surrounded by luggage,
waving at me.
I'm getting a sharp pain
in my stomach
right in the upper middle,
close to my chest
like a sword
running through it.
My breath gets short...
I'm turning off my meter.

I watch my wife...my children
on their knees
praying
before the casket...

Accepting.
