A shooting inside the University of Texas has left the gunman dead and police are searching for a second suspect. In Austin Texas, the University of Texas campus library had a man open fire with a gun and then fatally shoot himself. The gunman used an automatic weapon on the sixth floor of the Perry Castaneda Library early Tuesday morning.

According to police, no one else was injured during the shooting except the gunman who is now deceased from a self in flicked gunshot wound.

Police had the University of Texas campus locked down while looking for the second suspect. The second suspect was believed to have been unarmed. However, they locked the campus down as a precaution for everyone. There is no word yet and the reason why the man opened fire on the campus. No one knows for sure if a second gunman was involved it is just believed there could have been a second party to the campus shooting.

Reports indicate that fifteen shots were fired before the gunman shot and killed himself. The campus shooting could be just a suicide shooting. Authorities will not know for sure why this happened until the investigation is finished. If this was a suicide shooting, it's a very sad thing to have happened on the University of Texas campus. Officials, faculty and staff as well as students and parents are glad no one else was injured during the shooting at the University of Texas.

The University of Texas is one of the largest campuses in the country with almost fifty thousand students attending.

The University of Texas was a scene of a violent shooting in 1966 when ex-Marine Charles Whitman killed fourteen people and wounded dozens more. Charles Whitman was on a perch on one of the towers of the campus. It was a shooting spree that the University of Texas campus will never forget.
