A Shot Glass Christmas Ornament for the Single Guys

Agnes Farside
Do you know a single man who thinks putting up a Christmas tree is for guys who have a wife and kids? Do you know a single guy who thinks decorating a Christmas tree might be exposing too much of his "feminine" side? How about a married guy whose man cave could use some holiday cheer? What about you men; do you have an endless collection of shot glasses you just do not know what to do with? Here is a manly craft that might encourage the single male to put up his own Christmas tree with decorations that do not include empty beer cans or beef sticks. Men, married or single, will want to do this craft, as it does not involve much time, cost or frilly lace.

Items Needed to Make Shot Glass Christmas Ornaments

-Assortment of shot glasses
-Pine cones (size needs to be proportionate to the shot glass so that the shot glass resembles a tree stump for the pine cone)
-Glue gun and glue sticks
-Small paint brush
-One yard of ribbon (one-fourth inch wide, your choice of color) (may need more if making more ornaments)
-Small sleigh bells (about one-inch round)
-Colored tissue paper (red, green, white)
-Glitter (do not worry guys, this is optional)

Instruction for Making Shot Glass Christmas Ornaments - Prep Work

Wash and dry all shot glasses and set aside. Cut ribbon into six inch lengths and set aside. Cut tissue paper into sections large enough to fit into the shot glasses when wadded up, and set aside. Brush pine cones with the paint brush to remove dirt and debris. Plug in the glue gun.

Instruction for Making Shot Glass Christmas Ornaments - Putting it all Together

Slightly wad a piece of the tissue paper into a loose ball and stuff inside one of the shot glasses. Cover the rim of the shot glass with a small amount of hot glue. Be careful not to burn yourself. Set the bottom of the pine cone on the glue and let it completely dry.

Tie or glue the center of a piece of the six inch ribbon to the top of the pine cone, leaving the two ends about the same length. Slide a sleigh bell onto one end of the ribbon and then tie the two ends together. This ribbon will be used to hang the Christmas ornament. If you want, brush some areas of the pine cone with glue and sprinkle glitter over the top and sides. Repeat the above process for the next ornaments. Your shot glass Christmas ornaments are now ready to hang.

Great idea for getting the guys into crafting. But watch out, once they start playing with glue guns or heaven forbid, wood and nails, they'll become unstoppable!

Okay, Agnes, you have outdone yourself and everyone else in creativity, fun, and enthusiasm this time. I walked by some old shotglasses at the thrift store the other day - time to go get them before someone else does. This is great fun for the men, and they will enjoy the opportunity to create a manly ornament or two.
