held within my hand,
a special note to smile upon me,
of a place with legends enchanting,
in a far away land.
A gift of words that fill my heart,
speaking of poets,
of the nineteenth century,
miracles and places of wonder,
this Linden Wood box,
carved in beauty held deep in the heart of me.
A leafy floral design,
scrollwork in Autumn colors,
of warmth so sweet,
inside a shining symbol, a silvery ring, my birthstone,
amethyst faceted in the shape of a teardrop,
touched by my vision to where my soul would meet
But handmade with love,
this box of such care,
drifts my mind through the legends,
over the Tatra Mountains,
enchanted my heart,
I am taken there.
Could it be a place,
where paradise is found,
entwining the sky with the twisting roots,
that reach up from the ground?
Could I be in this place with poets
and legends made,
this place of wonder, miracles of history,
carried alongside the carved sentiment of a craft,
the scent of the untouched earth, that created this mystery.
Thankful for the gift that is held within,
a smile for the beauty, a journey of the mind I am carried through,
a treasured keepsake that will for years have me intrigued,
as I step back into this dreamy view.
~A special thanks to Mary Martin for her part in inspiring this as well. After reading her sweet admirations for collecting small boxes it brought such a smile thinking of my own. ~ Please pay her a kind visit if and when you get the chance.

Thanks all, you are awesome!!! Its been awhile since I've posted much here, so I'm glad you have decided to pop in! =) Thanks Wiley, I've placed another version of the box along my blog for this poem. Very sentimental box to me =) most things given are, lol...but loved the mention of poetic attributes on that tiny paper, felt, a special closeness.
