A Simple ESV Study Bible Review Anyone Can Enjoy

A Great New Bible that is Accurate and Handy

T.K. Moyer
If you are in the market for a study bible I would like to make a suggestion for your purchase. Recently I read a ESV Study Bible Review on the internet and decided to give it a look. I spent about 20 minutes in my local Christian book store thumbing through its pages before I decided to plop down 60 bucks and take it home. I was not disappointed with the ESV Study Bible but I was disappointed at how misleading some of the reviews found on the Internet are about this Bible.

I do not intend to persuade you away from your belief that the KJV is the only version that should be read. If you feel this way then you need to consider reading a different Bible review. I also will not discuss the theological leanings of the publishers and translators of this translation. These two points are irrelevant. I simply would like to highlight for you the ESV Study Bible's ease of use, detailed maps and study material, and use and carryl of this bible so that you can make an educated purpose.

Ease of Use. This Bible is extremely easy to use. If you are a complete Bible Novice then you will appreciate the layout of this Bible. All of the additional information found within this Bible is set up in an easy to find manner. Whether you are trying to determine the author of the particular book you are reading, or find a little of it's history, the ESV Study Bible makes things simple. In my opinion ease of use also incorporates readability. I find the readability of the ESV to be much easier than other translations of the Bible. The editors and translators have done a remarkable job in taking complex Greek and Hebrew thoughts and finding the English equivalent. No Bible can ever be 100% equivalent in translation, but this Bible comes close.

Study Materials and Maps. If you are looking for a study bible then you are probably looking to learn more about the Bible through the thoughts of other writers. The study materials found in the ESV Study Bible are remarkably deep and insightful. The maps are well drawn out and are timely in their presentation within the text. Every page of this Bible contains passages of scripture that are broken down into smaller sets of verses for discussion. This verse by verse examination of scripture leads to what I believe is the most though provoking and valuable study bible on the market.

Use and Carry. This is my one complaint about this Bible. It is heavy. Very heavy. If you are looking for a Bible that allows you to carry it easily you need to find another Bible. This Bible is a monster in size and weight. Most of the added weight comes from slightly thicker pages than other Bibles (or at least they feel thicker), and other weight is added due to the volume of information put forth in this Bible. Do not buy this Bible for your student to lug around school. Rather, it would be my suggestion that you purchase this Bible and use it as a tool for your family to use together during times of Bible Study in the home.

I find that this is my favorite study Bible, and I use it more than any other study resource available in my library. I highly recommend this study Bible to you and hope this ESV Study Bible Review has been helpful.
