A Simple Flower

April Higney
Staring in silence,
at a simple flower
held tight
in beauty
with the need for everything
focused at the center.
Each petal,
much the same
soft in the dew
seeking the caress
of the morning sun.
These eyes,
the view,
plucks each one
separating,
casting adrift
floating along
in varying directions,
one sails caught on the air,
another swirls
as if it were meant to dance there,
much the same,
and so different,
seeking beauty
at the center,
even as they are plucked away
and cast adrift
following a sense of direction
meant to be carried
by the winds
ever-changing
unknowing
where they fall,
yet the motion
still catches each one
at the very breath
and lets it rest where it may.
Simplicity...
all the same...
different as it flows free.
These eyes
that somehow connect,
only hold one central focus,
letting it all fall
in the silence
felt and heard,
where it must be...
and there is
in this quiet effect
so much more
to see,
to
center
the heart
of me.
