A Simple Method for Coloring Easter Eggs

Coloring Easter Eggs for Easter on Sunday April 4th, 2010

One of the best things about being a parent is that you get to relive your childhood, through their actions and reactions. I'm a big kid at heart, and enjoyed exploring the world with my daughter as she grew up. Preparing for the Easter Holiday, I carried on the tradition of coloring Easter Eggs.

In hindsight, I wished I had taken more photo's because the ones I have now, are really precious to me, but back then, I was too focused on having fun, living every moment, relishing in enjoying life with my miracle baby.

I was not supposed to be able to have children so it was quite a shock when I became pregnant. Soon after I learned I was pregnant, I lost my job because the company decided to sell out in a joint venture and close the shop. My husband and I moved in with my parents, saved money for a year, and bought our first house. I was 22, and along with the marriage, I had acquired a 9 year old step-son. It was quite a change in my life, but somehow we all managed to survive.

Is there an easier way to color easter eggs?

My mother would tell you I am a slob; I would defend myself and say that I am a creative-clutterer. She would recall to you the times she had to kick her way through my bedroom to deposit my laundry on my bed. I would recall that she was right and hang my head. I am lazy in a practical way. Thankfully, I've gotten a bit more tidy over the years, but unlike my mom, I go the unconventional route sometimes, because frankly, some things are just easier to do, in a more relaxed fashion.

One of those things is coloring Easter eggs with kids. My mom used to set all the bowls on the table, and we would sit in our chairs, and try and dip the eggs after coloring on them with crayons. She was forever worried about us spilling things on the floor, or even worse, us falling off our chairs.

Hey, I'm an efficiency expert - it's what I get paid to do. When examining the situation with my own daughter, I thought, safety first, then efficiency.

Safety first

If the problem was falling off the chair, why not eliminate the chair and just color the eggs on the floor?Put some paper down, and let the kid have at it. No worry about falling off the chair, or tipping the bowls on the floor, because they are already there.

Clean up, well, hey, no matter how you look at it, it would be there. But the process of getting those eggs colored was a heck of a lot more fun when we were all on the floor!

One of the best memories we had was sitting on the floor and coloring eggs! This was great, Kay. Thanks for the memories, cheers.
