A Simple Poem to Honor Earth Day

Langley Cornwell
I wish there was more I could do to motivate masses of people to embrace the environmental cause. But I find comfort in the phrase Think Globally, Act Locally. It's true, global environmental problems are best dealt with on a local level. So at our house we will honor Earth Day every day. We will reduce, reuse and recycle. And we will continue to simplify our lives as much as possible. So fittingly, here is a simple poem with a simple message about a profound issue:

Earth Day

Come celebrate Earth Day with me
It's time to dream of what can be

Protect against the dumps and spills
Allow wildlife to roam the hills

Nature and beauty is everywhere
Please do your part to keep fresh air

All your waste, recycle now
It's just too easy, find out how

Love it all, the earth and sky
Reuse your stuff, give it a try

No matter where you live or play
Grassroots efforts save the day

We want a place where all can roam
Clean air and water, abroad and home

Let's join together, you and me
And fight for more clean energy

If everyone could do their part
A clean environment would be the start

Protect our planet, each of us
Earth Day and always, we simply must
