Ginnifer Goodwin - One of the sexiest celebrities to announce an engagement at the end of 2010 has to feel really good about landing her man, Joey Kern. After having to deal with the woeful side of relationships in "He's Just Not That End to You" and having to share a man in "Big Love", you can bet cute-as-a-button brunette babe Ginnifer Goodwin is glad to be engaged and involved in a nice, normal relationship.
Natalie Portman - This is one of the celebrities that surprised us most with her engagement announcement at the end of 2010, because it was packaged with another surprise: Natalie Portman is also pregnant! The lucky dad of her little cygnet (baby swan) is ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied, who was the "Black Swan" choreographer and played the partner of Natalie Portman's and Mila Kunis' characters in the movie. Her engagement and pregnancy might lead to shotgun wedding whispers, but it's going to be hard to shoot this swan down. After all, she's going to give birth to a baby that certainly can't turn out to be an ugly duckling with such beautiful and talented parents, and her character's swan song in "Black Swan" might just help her get an Oscar nom.
Hugh Hefner - His was another of the surprising celebrity engagements that came at the end of 2010, since one of the world's most famous bachelors refused to put a ring on it when it came to his last number one girlfriend, Holly Madison. It likely broke her heart just a little that Hugh Hefner announced his Christmas Eve engagement to Crystal Harris on Twitter, especially since Hugh Hefner's new ladylove is six years younger than Madison. And it's going to be hard for any celebrities to beat these two when it comes to age differences: Hugh Hefner is sixty years older than his 24-year-old bride-to-be.
LeAnn Rimes - One of the more controversial celebrities of 2010 managed to sneak her engagement in amongst the slew of other end-of-the-year celebrity engagements here. Country crooner LeAnn Rimes and "CSI:Miami" star Eddie Cibrian were embroiled in a cheating scandal when they first started seeing each other, a relationship that ultimately led to the end of their respective marriages. And their celebrity engagement has created a controversy of its own: according to E!, the couple actually got engaged around Halloween but have been denying it in order to score some cash with a cover story (time to take bets on how long this one will last).
Alanis Morissette - Already-wed Alanis Morissette had some good news of her own at the end of 2010 with one of the year's biggest celebrity births. The musician and hubby Mario Treadway welcomed baby boy Ever Imre on Christmas Day, and while he was the perfect present for the couple, the heyday the press got to have with another weird celebrity baby name was truly one of the best gifts Alanis could have given them.
Elton John - And here's another of the biggest celebrity births of 2010. Elton John and partner David Furnish recently announced the birth of their baby boy via surrogate, and the couple went for a more normal-sounding name in Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John (love how Elton John threw in the name of one of his best songs; "Levon" was so named after the lead singer of The Band). No word on if the baby shares any DNA with one of his talented daddies, but he's definitely blessed nonetheless.
So will any more engagements, pregnancies or births surprise us before 2010 comes to an end? Hopefully so; in a year plagued by high-profile Hollywood breakups, it's nice to see it end on a good note.
