A Slightly Unexpected Move Back Home

His room was turned into an office for me. I purchased a used computor, desk and chair. I was ready to delve into the world of technology from my new home office. The once poster covered walls were now lined with family photos and shelves, which would hold my books and office supplies. New window blinds replaced the sports theme curtains that had hung on the windows for years. A fresh coat of paint made it all smell so new. A daybed was placed where his old bed once stood. It would be used for guest bed, or Mike's bed, when he came home on weekends.

It was Memorial Day weekend, when I was informed that he would be coming back home to live until he could find adequate employment. Oh, oh, I thought to myself. So much for my dreams of running a small business from my home office. My heart sank, but only for a moment. I just happened to recall what my mother once said, "once a mother, always a mother."

My desk and computer would have to find a new home. The laundry room could be its temporary quarters. There was plenty of room in there to run my little business. The shelves and cupboards could easily hold the few supplies I would need. Everything would work out okay.

Today, loud music and a blaring television are sounds that come from what was to be my new office. Clothes strewn everywhere and unmade bed, most of the time, are all familiar sights and sounds again. Come to think of, I guess I kind of missed all that.

Welcome home, Mike!
