A Social Surprise - a Poem

Beyond the Automated

April Higney
I follow that which I believe in my heart,
pushing and pushing, and pushing more.
I follow those who stir my soul,
those who touch base with a dream that I adore.

My passion falls in the arts and poetry,
and getting through with some humor each day.
My writing reflects where I've been before,
and it hopes to help another find their way.

Sometimes I may follow something in politics,
or a religious aspect in its view,
curiosities of other inspirations,
wondering how others get through.

I may find myself following some actor,
liking a movie that grasped attention, like "Butterfly Effect",
the many things I can learn from,
that somehow I can connect.

And suddenly a stream of words,
came so quickly saying, "we are here!"
and it sparked an incredible moment in time,
that brought me back some cheer.

From spudcomics humor,
to artists of great masterpieces of the present,
to the tastes of history,
and what the varying writers' represent.

To inspirations in faith,
and well-being,
parenting tips,
all right there.
They opened up,
and shouted out,
and reinstated my belief,
after such an automated scare.

I'm sure there will still be,
those ones that never say a word,
but I've awoken with a smile,
at all the voices I have heard.
